ARIZA IS MY FAVORITE, I honestly think he is the next Artest, but hes not anywhere near that right now other than what Nissan stated

I agree with everything Nissan said and did Webster ever really got playing time?

if you agree with nissan then why are you quoting my post which disputes 2 of his points

webster didn't get playing time because he didn't deserve playing time

ariza is the 7th man on a championship contender see the difference

No, Farmar and Sasha are far more important than Ariza.

regardless martell webster has to fight for playing time on a team that misses the playoffs annually for about 5 years now

and then you claim he could start for a majority of the NBA

Game 7 of the 2000 WCF, enough said...

Sure, the Lakers always struggle against the Blazers during the season, but they can't beat us during the playoffs...

They won't keep their core too... Aldridge, Roy, Oden... all those guys would want to get paid...

If you think Kobe would have a meltdown because of 20,000 people screaming "Kobe sucks", think again... 4-0 against freaking Denver...

this thread is hilarious, ariza is a good player with a KNOWN foot injury history, imo he is equal to webster but with a different skillset, ariza is a slasher/defensive player and webster is a 3point specialist/shooter/hustle player, ariza is a top 3 perimeter defender on the lakers BY DEFAULT due to the fact that our other swingmen besides kobe arent that great defenders, webster plays behing a defensive specialist in outlaw and leader brandon roy (even though roy is a PG, he plays the SG position because he shared time with blake), both players are good for something thats why i cant really take a side ... and sasha is a decent defender but not good or great imo, he gambles too much and gets burned by either faster or larger players a majority of the time but he does know how to get into opponents heads which helps him, hopefully he improves ... overall the blazers are a formidable team and yes, the lakers should be very careful especially if we draw them in the first round because they match up with us very well but having 3 MAJOR maybes that are rookies is what really drops the blazers credibility because there are SO MANY GREAT college/euro players that HAVE DONE NOTHING in the NBA

What I've gathered from scanning this thread is that quite a few of us Lakers fans are as stupid as our equally homerific Portland guest.

Same, sadly, and fortunately, I can more than proudly & confidently say I'm not one of em'.

& for those of you really not taking Rudy Fernandez specifically seriously at all or highly underrating him, you'll all be sure to be in for a big surprise. No way Sasha is better than him. I will look back at this as the season begins and progresses and just laugh.

He isn't right now, because he hasn't played, but sadly for us, he is going to be, once he gets adjusted to the league, he is the best euro player right now, he is no Sergio Rodriguez.

Portland will be a tough opponent and imo a contender in 2010. They have the young pieces in place, will have the ability to spend next summer and Paul Allen won't care about taxes. As for this season though, still too young. A team this young needs to have experience together as a unit and the Blazers have had too many injuries to do that. Their susceptibility to injury is also a long term concern. Roy, Aldridge and Oden all have trouble staying healthy.

Rudy Fernandez? He's fearless on offense and worthless on defense. To use the Barkley line he's instant offense...both ways. Anyone who has seen Fernandez in Europe knows he's even worse than Kobe at overplaying for steals and ignoring his man. Nate won't go for that act at all, which means Rudy won't see as much time as people expect. Either Fernandez stays home on his man or he's nailed to the bench.

Oden will likely need a year to make the Bynum leap, and another summer to be truly ready. Thing that can hurt the Blazers though is that Oden isn't a scoring force and Aldridge is a face up 4. Until Oden develops his offense they won't have a back to the basket scorer inside. Defensively though they will be a beast.

I expect Portland to be a WCF contender in 2009-10. This season, if LA plays them first round they move on and the Blazers go home. Won't be like recent regular season matchups where LA is looking past them. A focused Laker team fully expecting to win the championship is not going to sleepwalk through the first round.

Portland will be very good, but they're a year away.

Ariza > Webster? Ariza is overrated by Laker fans like you. Ariza can't stay healthy and Webster is a better player. Webster would be starting for a couple of teams in the NBA if he wasn't playing for Portland. How many teams would Ariza start for if he wasn't on the Lakers?

i misread it slightly but the same idea
