ESPN 5# We're already bracing for a fresh batch of Laker Hater e-mails once folks see that Kobe and Co. "only" wound up with an average rank of 10th. Just don't forget how damaging that 34-48 season was in 2004-05 … and don't forget that lots of users out there still think we were way too soft on the 2002-03 Lakers. Our respect for those three-peaters was such that they never dropped below No. 15 despite starting that season 6-12 and 11-18.

uhh doubt that'll happen. That's the average ranking for the past 6 years. Even ranking 1 every single week won't make our average much lower...

It will certainly get higher as the years go on.

Clippers should be at the very bottom, rank #900 if possible...

Garbage rankings...

Kind of a silly article/list. Just more evidence of the excess capacity created by 200+ TV channels, and the Internet.

A rankings of the decade would be much more interesting; but no, Stein wasn't doing Power Rankings before 2002-3; so, he puts together this silly, insignificant list.

I actually hope that no one sends him any e-mail regarding this topic. It's pointless. It's simply an average of his opinion over the last five seasons. Whoopity-snot!

If you were mad in the past, then you'll be mad about this average ranking. If you were happy before, then you'll be happy with this list.

He thinks he needs to remind Laker fans that we stunk in 2004? Gee, thanks.
