Wow, that is HUGE news, that really sucks, but man, with all due respect, I bet that probably guarantees even more another Yankee World Series championship this year for the Yankees in honor of him. They will be extra motivated.

RIP George.

I hate the Yankees, but have lots of respect for the organization, and that includes Steinny.

He will be missed, but will live on forever through Larry David...

This didn't really shock me, I knew he had to be getting bad if he turned it over to his son. He just had a birthday on the 4th right? He and Al Davis.

You don't plan for massive heart attacks.

Anyways, R.I.P to a baseball giant. My prayers are with his friends and family.

Just woke up and this was breaking news on my phone. Rough week for the Yankees. Hopefully they have something special set up tonight before the All-Star game begins. RIP to George Steinbrenner.

Not a MLB fan but got to give crazy props to him!Heard the stories about Billy Martin and Reggie Jackson my whole life.Seemed to be much better owner than those 2 dumbasses from Boston who are using the Dodgers like a Black AMEX card!

What?!?! That is horrible news. I remember just seeing an interview of him like yesterday talking about the announcers death. Rough time in the Yankee family right now... Hopefully no more deaths.

RIP one of the best owners ever.

was at the bank depositing money for work and was this on the TV...shocking, not surprising though, he's been sick for awhile.

if winning is a measure of how you performed in sports, than he truly was a great owner, in spite of everything else. i guess jr. just got a whole hell of a lot richer too
