My poor Mac can't handle animated GIFs and freezes up. It's actually a common problem for pre 10.6 OSX.

This is very helpful
It is so annoying to be reading thru a thread, be scrolling down, and then have the whole system freeze for 1 or 2 mins, just so it can load someones avatar and signature, and their lame 3 word comment with a smiley face.
Either this, or just blocking certain users, because 95% of people do not cause a problem...

Perfect reasons why this board is so good you can block people's signatures so it doesn't slow down your connection. Win/win
Me personally having images and sigs is good for forums adds more colour to forums.
