I'm pretty sure that's a negative on the Bird rights. What about the birds rights?

I really don't understand the venom on this thread toward Brown. He averaged 8 points in 20 minutes last year, with a positive assist-to-turnover ratio and good defense. All that while playing inconsistent minutes off the bench, frequently with no one on the floor who can create good shots. Plus, he's fun to watch. Yes, he could shoot better ( 42% ) and take better shots, but so could Kobe. I think he's worth keeping, and he might even get an MLE from someone.

I have read that the Lakers do own Brown's 'Early Bird' rights, though. That would mean they could offer him 175% of his previous salary ( about $3.5M, or half the MLE ).

And he played hurt late in the season
That hand injury prevented him from gripping the ball
Even on his dunks .....he was throwing the ball through instead of actually dunking it

If he wants more money, signing a max deal with torsonto for a S&T he would get the most money...
LO+SB+LUKE For Bosh,,, DO IT MITCH
Why would Toronto trade for 3 bench players??

Why would Toronto trade for 3 bench players??
Only because it'd be better than getting nothing. Bosh is not coming to Los Angeles, but he's not staying in Toronto, either. The Raptors might as well get __something__ for him... but I think they've already received much better offers than anything the Lakers would put together.

Chemistry problems right from the start.
There is no way we have a max contract player in his prime coming off the bench.

That's one of the reasons why Shannon wants a long-term deal. He hates having to jump from team to team. His main thing is hoping he can get a multi year deal
The thing Shannon has going for him is his attitude and work ethic. That's why Lakers aren't even trying to keep Farmar
There hasn't been any interest, at least shared publicly, regarding Shannon. I think that's what the Lakers hope. They like him but don't want to pay him as much as maybe he hopes other teams will offer. Bottom line is Shannon would like some stability and would prefer the Lakers. But if other teams are knocking with more money, it makes it tempting for Shannon to go elsewhere

This is one guy that definitely should not be re-signed, just wait to see how bad he is when he doesn't have Kobe and Pau taking all the attention. He is already pretty bad with it. He is a below average, shooter, defender, ball handler, and his basketball IQ is right above that of a lab rat. He can dunk, big whoop.

Jazz Interested In Shannon
The Jazz may soon be looking to fill the void left behind by Wesley Matthews, who signed a lucrative offer sheet with the Trail Blazers.
If they don't try to bring back Ronnie Brewer, who was dealt to the Grizzlies at midseason, they could turn their attention to Shannon Brown or Roger Mason Jr.
The Deseret News reports that Utah has interest in both Brown and Mason Jr.

Really like Shannon but the more i think about it the less i see he brings to the table for a ball club.
his dunks are amazing, but I agree, we need someone who has more versatility and consistent play

ESPN.com sources say Lakers still talking to Shannon Brown about a return. Two-time champs obviously still want more guard depth
