NBA Live 1997: Los Angeles Lakers

The difficult transition stage for the Lakers, as the showtime era was over and the storied franchise of the Los Angeles Lakers, lead by a big 3 of Eddie Jones, Nick Van Exel and Cedric Ceballos, the Lakers look to return to contention in the ultra competitive NBA, which, is a much much easier task than it sounds. After getting knocked out in the first round, the Lakers took a major turn by signing All-NBA Third Team Center Shaquille O'Neal, and drafting the promising Kobe Bryant and Derek Fisher. Although they may have to wait a few years before anything major happens, the future is very bright indeed.

Rookie Difficulty (will be raised when I get used to it)
8 Minute Quarters
Please post if you follow :) (Live 96 stopped working, i have to use 97)

You're playing NBA Live 96? I got it, too.
Nice idea, I surely follow

There's gold and it's haunting and haunting; it's luring me on as of old; Yet it isn't the gold that I'm wanting So much as just finding the gold; It's the great, big, broad land 'way up yonder, It's the forest where silence has lease; It's the beauty that thrills me with wonder, It's the stillness that fills me with peace.

Lakers Look Sloppy In Season Opener

The Lakers had no answer for Kevin Johnson, who scored 40 Points.

The Lakers got absolutely killed in their season opener, in a game Eddie Jones called "Embarrassing." Jones and Kobe combined for 7-26, Shaquille O'Neal had an amazing offense game, yet only managed 6 rebounds. The Lakers were outrebounded by 20, and coach Del Harris said the performance was "Pathetic." and also said "This team looks like they don't care." After the game, Kevin Johnson said "It just came easy. The game slowed down for me and I was in a great place." Despite not bieng a prolific shooter, Johnson buried 4 triples tonight, but did most of his damage inside. When he asked if this Laker team was good enough to win a championship, KJ laughed, and replied sarcastically "Yeah, and in 10 years I'll be the mayor of Sacramento." The Lakers will look to bounce back against Minnesota and 2nd year sensation Kevin Garnett.

It got to be better against T'Wolves

Tom Gugliotta came close to a double-double, scoring 26 Points and Pulling down 9 Boards.

The Lakers lost yet again, this time to the perennial lottery Minnesota Timberwolves. The Lakers have been quite a let down so far in the season, getting blown out by the Suns and losing this game. The Lakers struggled to shoot the ball as a team, with Eddie, Shaq and Nick combining for 18-47 shooting. Del Harris said the team needs to "Buck their ideas up if they want any hope of winning the conference." The only person who had a good game was Derek Fisher, who came off the bench for 12 points on 4-7 shooting. The Lakers had a chance to pull away with the Wolves winning 92-90, however Nick missed and open 3, and on the other end KG nailed the 2 FTs. Shaq then put the dagger in the heart of his team when he turned the ball over, giving the Wolves an open 3 and a W on the calender. The Lakers will look to heat up as they butt heads with John Starks and the New York Knicks next.

Cedric Ceballos | 12 | 4 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 6-11 | 0-1

Shaquille O'Neal | 14 | 9 | 2 | 1 | 2 | 7-16 | 0-0
