The Golden State Warriors have moved quickly to prevent Latvian center Andris Biedrins from seriously entertaining interest from deep-pocketed teams in Europe by reaching terms on a lucrative new contract with the restricted free agent.

NBA front-office sources told ESPN.com that Biedrins was en route to Oakland on Sunday night after agreeing to a new six-year contract with the Warriors worth nearly $63 million. The contract, sources said, will likely be signed Monday and include a player option for Biedrins to return to the free-agent market in the summer of 2013 after completing five seasons.

Damn, 6 years for 63 million! So... Biedrins won't be going overseas, but did the Warriors overpay?

This leaves no doubt in my mind that Bynum gets a max contract.

Biedrins is a good player... he's a double-double every game and has a lot of potential. Remember, big men get overpaid. He also got some good offers to play in Europe.

Oh my goodness, he is not worth half of that. I honesly do not believe the Golden State Warriors knew what they were doing with this one. I mean, come on, 63M?

As someone said before, I have no doubt that Bynum is getting the max. If not this year, then definitely next year.

For $63 million? IMO, Warriors should've played it safe and just paid for his plane ticket to Europe.

Exactly. I agree that big men are a real asset, but at the end of the day, Biedrins isn't worth anywhere near that much.

10 million for that skinny scrub? There's no way he'll be able to bang with the other centers in the league. Sure he's a double double guy, but 10 million is waaay too much for the likes of Andris Biedrins...

He is worthy of 50 million max.

He does fit their system though.

Yeah, this contract, and the one that Bogut just got means Bynum's getting the max for sure.

Funny because I remember a thread a year or two ago comparing all three of these players just because their initials are AB
