How much have you donated to the site to keep the servers and what not current?

It's not that simple.

For Marky Mark it seems to be.

Perhaps let's be real, maybe the 'commish' just doesn't care all that much.

Maybe he's got a life a bit more important outside of internet message boards.

well he chose to make the message board, it doesn't make sense not to at least overlook it once a day.

Don't we all? Or at least we SHOULD. As lala wisely said, it only makes sense for him to invest at least a little more care and time to the own site he made. Sucks for the people there just a little bit if the guy with that power hardly gives a [expletive]. Just sayin'...

Message boards basically run themselves. You hire the staff, and check in every day, and you're the one cashing in on the ad revenue. Google has dished out so much money to message board owners, it's ridiculous. I know of an owner that gets $2,000 a month from those Google ads...pays for the server every month, easily, and puts a lot of money in his pocket.

Most administrators and owners are inactive posters. Whatever. The only stress you get from a message board is when you're designing a skin or sticking your neck out in a lengthy debate, or dealing with staff issues. Fixing database problems? MySQL is simple. Repairing, analyzing, optimizing, dropping and creating tables takes seconds.

If it's a hardware issue you're dealing with, it doesn't take much for the host to add the memory or replace the drive. It just has to be requested by the one who's paying for the dedicated server, which means that person has to be monitoring the site every now and then.

If the forums are slow, and they stay that way for a couple of days, Jaime will hear it from me (or he'll know by checking in on them). I'll monitor the memory usage, or he will, or he'll ask the host to take a look...and if there's something we need, it's done. That doesn't mean I have to take off work, doesn't mean I have to skip meals or miss a movie with my girlfriend...it means that I have to take a few minutes out of my day to make sure things are taken care of, and...well, it's done.

We owe our members that. You guys post here every day, visit the blog and participate in discussions there...so it's our job to keep it available. TLN's blog was created by Jaime, Kam, Chris and Shane...and I dove in and put up the forums. Doesn't mean much, because without the registered members here, all of that work in the beginning goes to waste.

My personal take on CL: no one with power cares. Sad, but VERY true.

From lack of active mods to the weekly crashes, the place is dying a slow painful death.

Who are the admins over there now?

Has anyone been in contact with the owner?

Just checked to see what everyone was talking about. Sorry that CL is still down, wow.

I think commish needs to seriously look into that problem. There are ads on there (which we don't have), the site must be making some sort of revenue (combined with all the other Club-sites), so I'm sure he knows about it.

MySQL error code 134: Record was already deleted (or record file crashed)

Simply repair the tables. It takes less than 30 seconds to figure out which ones are causing the problems, less than 10 to repair them (unless it's your posts or topics table, which would take 60-90 seconds each on a database of that size).

There it is, once again.

If it was a memory issue or server problem, the other club sites would be down as well.

Man, it doesn't take much to just go into phpMyAdmin or a similar program (depending on what's installed) and just check and repair the table(s) causing the problems. If it's a problem with sessions, truncate the table. Something. It's an easy fix.

You're not alone. Like I said, no one with the power to fix things cares.
