Rock Band is more aggressive on their playlist but for gameplay., that thing is awful.

GH: World Tour. You can switch to any instrument at any time, any difficulty at any time, play online with others without a fault, write your own songs, and basically do everything you can on rock band but with game play that doesn't force you to play the same relentlessly until you put the game away fro good.

Fight the power - Rock Band sucks.

Go with tradition.

Rock Band was made by musicians. [Harmonix]
Guitar Hero was made by skaters. [Neversoft]

In all seriousness, read this thread at NeoGAF and you'll find plenty of reasons as to why RB2 is better:
http://www.neogaf.co...ad.php?t=343641

Some choice quotes:

Rock Band 2
Pros:
It's awesome
Music is awesome
DLC is awesone

Cons:
Nothing

GHWT
Cons:
It sucks

Pros:
Nothing.

Followed by "ditto" or "what he said" by like 20 posts.

Wow - everyone seems to agree. I bought RB2 and really enjoy it. Then I picked up GH:WT for a second guitar. I hate the interface and the graphics - everything just seems such lower quality. Playing with a group is also a lot easier in RB2. Plus, the guitar in GH is (imo) no where near as good as the RB2 guitar. In fact, I can barely even play the thing as the buttons feel so squishy and unresponsive. I don't know about the rest of the equipment, but it is safe to say your money is better spent on RB2.

GH:WT just seems really uninspired.

The big difference for me is in the songs I had never heard prior to playing. Both games have some pretty epic tunes from the likes of AC/DC, Van Halen, Hendrix etc, and I know I'm going to love those songs regardless of the platform.

In Rock Band, I found that 90% of the time, I really enjoyed the songs that I didn't know. In GH:WT, they almost all felt like a chore. On top of it, I think most of the songs are remixed to be longer.

I've owned all the GH and RB games ever since GH1, and I've unlocked everything on all them except of what gets unlocked by beating expert. GH:WT was the first exception to this rule. RB2 on the other hand, I've finished the game (assuming the Rolling Stone cover counts as the end), and I keep going back on a regular basis.

If you're a musician or have any real musical inclination, you'll prefer Rock Band. If you want a game that is more of a rhythm game than a music-rhythm game, you'll prefer Guitar Hero.

This might seem like a [expletive]ed up and retarded way to put it, but bear with me. Basically, in Guitar Hero World Tour, the notes on screen go along to the music just fine, but don't always (and in the case of the guitar don't often) actually have any real similiarity to what would really be played.

Obviously on a plastic guitar with five buttons it's impossible to emulate a real guitar and how it feels to play properly, but Rock Band does a much better job. The charts from the guys at Harmonix actually represent real chords and fingering much more, and that is because the guys at Harmonix are mostly musicians as well as gamers.

Because of this I find Rock Band much more fun to play. It's not as challenging because of it, but it all makes sense in my head, whereas certain songs in Guitar Hero make me want to snap the guitar in half because the charts make no musical sense whatsoever.

Add in superior DLC, menus, character creation and customization, and you get an overall better game despite GH:WT having a great setlist and making many big strides forwards from GH3. Despite how far they've come, they're still several steps behind Harmonix.

Also, WT totally [expletive]ing ruined the end of Livin' on a Prayer. Shame on them. Shame. RB2 does the song too and doesn't rape the ending.

There you have it. RB2 is clearly the better game. My nephews got it, and I spend more time playing it than they do, haha. I'm going to save money to buy it sometime in Dec/January.

if you say go with tradition, then you have to go with rock band since they created guitar hero and then left to make their own game known as rock band.

Too bad they completely forgot how to make a game intuitive, flexible and fun along with forcing you to play songs at their pace rather than your own.

If you like playing the same songs repeatedly until you tire of the game itself and enjoy being stuck with one instrument throughout the whole game with no choice of ever jumping to another without starting over and playing the same songs (again) 5 times a piece before you can get close to moving on - then enjoy.

Don't get sold on a bill of goods - Rock band sucks.

IDK man... Almost all of NeoGAF [a highly respected, albeit rowdy, video game community] and most of the media outlets agree.

GH:WT rankings: http://www.gameranki...4... world tour [85%]

Rock Band 2 rankings: http://www.gameranki...9...rock band 2 [92%]

Plus, RB2 has new Downloadable Content EVERY SINGLE WEEK.
GH? Not so much... + You can import all of the original Rock Band's songs and DLC as well.

Win-win if you ask me.

Oh, and intuitive? I brought my nephew's RB2 set over to my house for the night and we were all jamming out when out of nowhere my Dad walks in and says, "ok... ok... let me try this thing out." He picks up the guitar and struggles through his first song [57%]... We go to our 2nd song and he jumps up to 76%. He had never played a video game before in his life except Mario Bros. on the SNES.

You were saying?

yeah if anything go for who has the most songs. 500 songs with more on the way is well worth the price.
