So there's no way of just let's say borrowing the game from a friend or someone & then doing it that way AND if you still have to pay, being able to only choose a certain amount of songs you want, not all of them?

Well I don't know about borrowing the game and importing the songs, but I would think you can't choose which you want, it just imports them all. Why would you not want them all imported if it's $10 either way?

Not a great week for me, I might get 'Icky Thump' and 'Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground' depending on the difficulty and how they play, if they're tricky at all. White Stripes songs tend to be repetitive so I'll decide after I watch the youtube videos of how they play.

Rock Band 3 Will Teach People To Play Music For Real

http://g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/700529/Rock-Band-3-Will-Teach-People-To-Play-Music-For-Real.html

In recent interviews, Dhani Harrison, son of Beatle George Harrison, has not only revealed the existence of Rock Band 3, he's also dropped a tantalizing detail about the gameplay. According to Harrison, Rock Band 3 will teach gamers how to play music "for real" as they go.

“I’m working on Rock Band 3 and making the controllers more real so people can actually learn how to play music while playing the game,” Harrison said. “Give me a couple years, it’s going to happen.”

Any stories about music games that originate from rock-personas have to be taken with skepticism -- musicians have often dropped wrong information about the video games they're working on because they're way too busy making music and/or pulling groupies to worry about the finer points of video games -- but Harrison is different. By all accounts, he was a major figure behind the scenes of The Beatles: Rock Band, and seems to know his stuff. So when Harrison talks, you have to listen.

My question is: Do gamers want to learn to play music? As a (mediocre) guitar player, lemme tell you: Playing real music is nearly infinitely more difficult than playing video game music. It's not fun to learn to play an instrument in the same way it's fun to learn a game(It's much more rewarding when it actually "works," though), and I, for one, have no desire to mix these two things.

Currently, other than the vocals, no part of Guitar Hero or Rock Band actually improves your real musicianship very much. You can gain rudimentary rhythmic improvement from drum playing, and maybe a touch of limb-independence front the guitar and the drums, but nothing too serious. I could see it working as an optional "learning mode," but not as a core gameplay mechanic.

Sounds pretty awesome to me. Get people hooked in the first 2 games with the fun gameplay, introduce them to new music they might not have known before, then eventually teach them to play for real. I'm interested for sure, the more real the games get the better.

Got Lego Rock Band...it's pretty fun, but SUPER easy. There are little boss battles that are cool, hopefully they use that in later games somehow.

I downloaded Oasis' "Supersonic"(Live), Nirvana's "About A Girl", and "Pearl Jam's "Force of Nature", leaving me 2 songs away from completing all of Pearl Jam's Backspacer album.

Im thinking about getting "Icky Thump"...which I feel will be fun if you can play the keyboard parts.

Love it! Effing AWESOME!!! :rock2:

Dead Leaves & The Dirty Ground is alright, but I won't be picking it up cuz it's just way too slow on drums even for expert. The Spongebob song looks decent, but I'm not a Spongebob fan so yeah...

I'm not a big White Stripes fan, but after watching the videos for all 3 of the songs I think I want them all. They just seem fun to play, 2 of them have cool solos and the other i just a good song period, just good rock songs, fit the game well and look fun to play.

Thank you Rock Band for allowing us to play the keyboard solos...even though they're hard as hell.

Downloaded 2 of the Spongebob songs too to entertain my little brother(I swear), and then Styx's "Too Much Time On My Hands" and Soundgarden's "Pretty Noose".

Definitely getting SLTS. Effin' classic. Might get the other two eventually, but still would've highly preferred they be studio versions, but oh well.

So I got "Come As You Are" on the first day, first try, 100% and the #1 score on the leaderboards. Felt good.

I also dl'ed "Metal On Metal" by Anvil(which they played on Conan awhile back and I loved it, had to get it), more PJ songs, and "Live Forever" by Oasis.

And finally, I picked up Band Hero today, and as gay as it is, its fun.

Haven't been any songs I want in weeks, but that changes this coming week, 3 more Green Day songs from 21st Century Breakdown, "Christian's Inferno", "Viva La Gloria", and "Last of the American Girls". There are some better songs on the CD, but I like these, especially 'Viva La Gloria'.

Ive got a short, kinda funny, story: Just this past Tuesday, "Downfall" by Trust Company was available for download on Rock Band. I tweeted that I downloaded it and said they were a one-hit wonder. About 30 minutes to an hour later, their drummer, who runs their twitter account @Trustcompany41, tweeted me saying that they were coming back with new hit songs and for me to follow them. I felt like an [expletive] though cause one of their band members actually read what I said about them and I was called out. Haha. It was harmless...but still, kinda [expletive]ty.
