The Pistons' coaching staff is excited about the potential of Kwame Brown heading into his first season with the team.

"I've been studying big men in this league since 1970, and I am going to tell you this, Kwame Brown, at his size, moves faster and with more control than any other guy that size that I can remember," Assistant Coach Dave Cowens said.

Detroit is hoping Brown will excel in a less-pressurized environment.

"He's been really good," Curry said. "If the kid was not the first pick in the draft, I wonder what everybody would say about him? I have a list of guys who make $6 million, $7 million a year who haven't done nearly as much as he's done in this league, and we got this kid for $4 million."

Everybody's been excited about his potential the day he got drafted, now most of us have just grown tired of it. Kwame's probably just happy a team still offered him $$$.

Don't hate on Kwame. He's not being paid 9 million anymore and he's just a backup, not a starter. Good luck to Kwame.

Positioning doesn't matter, he's always been useless.

hes not useless, as a PF he was going well for the wizards and was showing an upside. When he got injured and they rushed him back is when he started his decline.

say what you want but he is one of the best back up bigs in the NBA when fully healthy

hell if we didn't trade caron butler for him i would have been glad he was on our team

hes better than anyone we have at back up center i'll tell you that much

i love how some laker fans go crazy over guys like josh powell yet bang on kwame so much

yeah hes not a starter, yeah he can't catch a ball but when it comes to back up big men you will not find a better defensive center than kwame brown

i honestly wish we would have signed him
