So Kobe gets a couple more, does that mean he can have the title as the most clutch player in NBA history?

February 16, 2004 - Lakers 89, Blazers 86, Kobe made the tie-breaking layup with about 30 seconds to go, then hit the final free throw with seven seconds to go.

And here's the headline for the Dallas/LA game back on January 13th...

Nowitzki hits a milestone, but Kobe nails the game-winner

What exactly are you considering as a game-winner?

November 16, 2000 - Lakers 112, Kings 110, Kobe hit the three to go into OT, then the jumper in OT for the win

And here's the headline for the Dallas/LA game back on January 13th, etc.

Those are ALL considered EVENTUAL Game Winners.

I compiled the original Kobe Bryant Game Winning Shot list back in 2005 (that is my exact quote you used up there in one of my updated lists; including the ones found in the Definitive Kobe Thread in the Lakers Talk Forum too), in which I initially included all those games rolled into one. But now, thanks to Just-Ming, we separated the list into 2: Official and Eventual. That way this list can be compared to the Official Michael Jordan List put out by NBA.com almost a decade ago (which I and some others have updated since).

Kobe Bryant - Eventual Game Winners:
(And the reasons why they're considered "eventual")

  • Nov. 16, 2000: Lakers 112 - Kings 110 (OT, game-tying 3-pointer for OT, jumper over Divac w/ 24 secs)
*Kings intentially foul Bryant w/ 4 secs, +2FTs
  • June 14, 2000: Lakers 120 - Pacers 118 (NBA Finals, OT off-reb and put-back w/ 5.9 secs)
*Technical foul called against Fox w/ 5.9 secs, +FT
  • Mar. 24, 2002: Lakers 97 - Kings 96 (jumper over Christie w/ 36 secs)
    *Webber jump-hook w/ 29 secs
  • Dec. 22, 2002: Lakers 109 - Raptors 107 (layup over Peterson w/ 33.2 secs)
*Raptors intentially foul Horry w/ 8.5 secs, +FT
  • May 11, 2003: Lakers 99 - Spurs 95 (PO, FT w/ 48 secs)
*Spurs intentially foul Bryant (twice) w/ 14.2 secs, +3FTs
  • Feb. 17, 2004: Lakers 89 - Blazers 86 (left-handed layup w/ 31.8 secs)
*Blazers intentially foul Bryant w/ 7 secs, +FT
  • Mar. 03, 2004: Lakers 96 - Rockets 93 (jumper over Yao w/ 32 secs)
*Rockets intentially foul Fisher w/ 9.8 secs, +2FTs
  • April 25, 2004: Lakers 92 - Rockets 88 (PO, OT layup/and-1 over Mobley /w 40 secs)
*Rockets intentially foul Malone w/ 6 secs, +FT
  • Jan. 07, 2006: Lakers 112 - Clippers 109 (tear-drop over Brand w/ 11 secs)
    *Parker fastbreak-dunk w/ 4.4 secs
  • May 21, 2008: Lakers 89 - Spurs 85 (PO, jumper w/ 23.9 secs)
*Spurs intentionally foul Vujacic w/ 7 secs, +2FTs
  • Jan. 13, 2009: Lakers 105 - Rockets 100 (3-pointer over Battier w/ 27 secs)
*Rockets intentially foul Gasol (twice) w/ 7 secs, +3FTs
  • Jan. 13, 2010: Lakers 100 - Mavericks 95 (jumper over Howard w/ 28 secs)
*Mavericks intentionally foul Farmar w/ 5 secs, +3FTs

For it to be constitute a game-winning shot, the shot must:

A: Be the Last Shot that puts the team ahead within a One Possession Point Spread (meaning score < 3)

B: Be the Last Shot MADE in the game by the winning team

here are some we have listed as game winners for kobe that you don't have included in your list, according to this thread.

http://lakernation.c...g-shots-thread/

11/16/00: Lakers 112 - Kings 110 (OT game-tying 3 pointer for OT, & jumper for win)
03/24/02: Lakers 97 - Kings 96 (fade-away with 36 sec)
03/03/04: Lakers 96 - Rockets 93 (jumper over Yao with 22 sec)
01/07/06: Lakers 112 - Clippers 109 (game-winning off-the-window shot)

did brief research on a couple, and they seem legit, didn't check all 4 though if someone else wants to

edit - some other beat me to it, but you get the idea...looks like you've already explained your reasoning, everyone has their own opinions of what constitutes a game winner

So he has 39. What are Lebrons, Wades, Melos and Jordans total with the eventual gamewinners?

Why would it have to be the last shot made in the game? If Kobe hits a three to go UP by three...and then the Spurs miss a three and get a tip-in with no time left on the clock, the Lakers win BECAUSE of Bryant's three. It's a game-winner.

Uhh definitely. Free throws are nerve--racking at the end of games.

Why would it have to be the last shot made in the game? If Kobe hits a three to go UP by three...and then the Spurs miss a three and get a tip-in with no time left on the clock, the Lakers win BECAUSE of Bryant's three. It's a game-winner.

It'll be considered official since it would be the last shot made by the winning team; but looking at the "eventual" list, that kind of scenario hasn't happened to Kobe anyway.

As I explained earlier in this thread:

We seperated them into 2 columns: Official and Eventual.

THE REASON being is so that we can compare the "Official" list to NBA.com's own Official Michael Jordan list.

NBA.com's list does NOT list Jordan's "Eventual" game-winners. If it did, Jordan would have more than just the 28 listed here.

And for those still confused: Kobe has 27 OFFICIAL game-winners; 12 EVENTUAL game-winners.

This is the most comprehensive list on game-winners I've seen! +1 for the effort!
