There are rumors circling around the internet about the remake of FFVII..

your thoughts??

and btw I'm a big fan of all Final Fantasy games..

yes i would want one, but i've been reading that it would take tooooo much time. re-doing all the towns and etc. thats why 13 has no towns. making HD towns going to take forever

I actually want to preserve Final Fantasy VII the way it was or is. Final Fantasy VII was meant to be experienced on the PS1 and to make a remake out of it will just take the whole experience away or worse, make it un-enjoyable. Kind of like what Working Designs did to Lunar: The Silver Star and Lunar: Eternal Blue. It was meant to be experienced on the Sega CD not on the PS1. So I vote no.

wtf?! thats the essence of FF.. I hated 12 cause they took that part out.

Nah, some games are meant to stay on the consoles they were originally on. That game is a legend and really put the PS1 on the map.

I do miss the town explorations and the gigantic worlds of PS1 and PS2 RPGs. HD games are most likely never going to have that anymore because of the level of detail required. Makes me sad.

The AC series, for sure. GTA has a sort cartoony visuals (nowhere near that of FF or AC) so I don't think it took a crazy amount of hi-def work to produce the towns.

AC's selling point is exploration, so it'd be kinda pointless if they didn't have it haha

Square Enix CEO: We're 'going to explore the possibility' of Final Fantasy VII remake



So far, Square Enix has said that a Final Fantasy VII remake would be "unrealistic," "tough to do in HD" and "not happening." But hold out hope, die-hards, because during an interview at FFXIII's launch party, Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada finally admitted that the company is "going to explore the possibility" of revisiting the classic RPG. He didn't completely reverse the long-held position, as he says Square Enix has to decide "whether or not we're going to do it, if we're going to do it, and the platform," but he did finally admit that there have been a lot of fan requests to see the game in a new form, so he's giving it some solid thought.

Of course, the huge success of the game's re-release on PSN probably didn't hurt either. If Square's convinced a remake will sell (and people will play through Gaia yet again, possibly even on yet another platform), we'll probably see it somewhere sooner or later.

When asked by game site Siliconera which game FFXIII director Motomu Toriyama would want to remake, he replied, "That would be Final Fantasy VII!"



"If we had the manpower and the time to work on a project, if we were to remake Final Fantasy VII with the quality of Final Fantasy XIII it would become a tremendous project," Toriyama continued. "If we can get the number of people we need by all means that would be the one I would really want to remake."



In 2006, Square Enix released a "technical demo" depicting Final Fantasy VII as it would look in the PlayStation 3. The game was originally released on the PlayStation 1 in 1997.
