Yanks are now 8.5 back, not good at all. Angels continue to dominate them. Thankfully for Yank fans, there's still a crapload of time left.

Man, playoffs chances are very small now, they arn't getting the job done. Especially the bullpen, which has been god awful lately. It's starting to look like the mets pen. First they completely blew that great start by Giese, then Mo lost the one against the angels, and now today Marte gives up 2 hits in 1/3 of an inning and Mo gives up a 3 run shot for his first blown save. Im starting to wish that Pudge trade never happened.

Also, anyone know whats up w/ Melky? I know he was getting rest in the Texas series, and then got hurt during the Angels series. But he played Monday but sat again Tuesday. Is he still hurt or has Girardi just opted not to play him because he's not hitting? And Betemit isn't exactly a better option, offense or defense, so I don't really get that move.

I guess there was some magic left for whoever has been ruining their season: Giese headed to the DL. That makes:
Wang, Hughes, Kennedy, Chamberlain, and Giese (all starters) have been on the DL. A-Rod, Jeter, Damon, Matsui, and Posada (out for season) all been on the DL. Has a team ever been so devastated by injuries? Abreu, Giambi, Cano, Melky, Pettite, and Mussina have been the only ones who've made it through the season without any major injuries.

its definitely been a tough year, but hopefully next year, a new stadium, and healthy players, comes another chance to win a championship.

That's the way im looking at it. I honestly don't believe they will make the playoffs, although if they pick it up they definately could. Lots of games left against Boston and Tampa Bay, I just don't know if they can compete with them at this point. If they get Joba back quickly, and Hughes can come in and pitch well, I'll feel better. But until they, they basically have 2 quality starters, although Ponson has pitched well lately and Raz's record would be a heck of a lot better if they gave him any run support. I really hope they don't fire Girardi, but it looks like they probably will. I think he's done a great job and there's just not much he can do when you're playing the entire season with half a team.

You're right I don't know you. That's why I asked what team you're a fan of. Maybe you should read my post next time.

At least we have some upcoming games in which we can make up ground. But we have to execute, and go on a little win streak.

Yep, they can definately do it, but they need to stop playing sloppy and start hitting. Joba should be back sometime soon, hopefully that gives them a boost. Jeter still believes they can do it, and the good thing is their fate is in their own hands. They have to win against the bad teams and when they play Boston and Tampa.

BTW does anyone know who they are planning to use in their rotation? I know Pettite/Ponson/Mussina, but who do they use after that? I guess they could go Raz Tuesday (have monday off), then Pettite wed, Ponson thurs, Mussina fri, and I guess hope Joba and/or Hughes is ready by saturday?

R.I.P. Yankees...

ya amazingly American Idle Carl Pavano has been solid...I'm shocked but its time for a new contract so he is pushing for a pay day...but he won't remain with the yankees...horrible experience.

We shall have a Yankees-less playoffs for the first time since 1993.
I'm all for change.
