They got Pudge to bolster the offense in the catcher spot. I definitely agree that Molina has done a fantastic job as a catcher, but he hasn't been able to fill that offensive drop when we lost Posada. Just check out these numbers for Pudge over the last few months. His offensive numbers have been excellent.
Even though I was a Farnsworth fan(that's pretty rare lol), I still understood that move by Cashman. We have a plethora of solid bullpen relievers to fill in the gap for Kyle. We just received Damaso Marte; Edwar has become a solid weapon much like Kyle(even better numbers actually), Veras has been solid all season, and we possibly have Bruney, who was having a great season prior to his downtime, coming back to the pen.
Oh yea, I just have to comment on how I loathe seeing Ponson take the mound. There hasn't been a Yankee pitcher I have less confidence in than I do in Ponson whenever he's to come in to pitch. He's just been lucky in his past starts with us with the offense giving him a break. Guy needs to be replaced ASAP!
I definately see where you are coming from. I just don't think they needed to replace Molina's bat. They have such great hitters, they can afford to have one bad bat with his defense. I agree moving Farnsworth isn't going to kill the team or anything, just the player they got in return was a very minor upgrage imo that he wasn't really worth giving up.
And I couldn't agree more on Ponson. Before his last start where he got hammered by Boston they were talking about how he's got an average of like 8 runs per game this year from his team. And he's 5-2, that's awful.
