Defense wins championships.

How true!

Look at the Spurs, Pistons, and Celtics, the core of teams this past few years that have had some collective success.

See?! They are very good and grossly intimidating defensive teams.

The Lakers have to be tougher and more physical or they'll be eaten alive once again as the Rockets, Spurs and the likes try to neutralize Kobe Bryant.

The Celtics, as the Spurs did to LeBron in 2007, proved Kobe to be capable of being defended.

Tooth for tooth, I think the Lakers should rattle other teams' confidence or they'll be the ones to be torn apart.

No D at all? Do you keep track of the power rankings that they post on nba.com? At one point during the season the Lakers were in the top five in both defense and offense. Surely, Bynum will make a HUGE difference in the upcoming season.

The reason why the Lakers have not been a good defensive team is very simple. No low post presence. When Bynum was healthy and playing, he was able to to alter alot of shots and it got to the point where the Lakers made other teams jump shooting teams.

Bynum goes down, enter Gasol who isn't as strong as Bynum and isn't a shot blocker like Bynum, and teams started to pound away down low and then were able to kick it out for three.

Why did the Celtics own us? Because their defense made the Lakers a jump shooting team. We rarely got anything down low.

With Bynum healthy and Gasol moving to the PF. Our low post is going to be tops in the NBA in BOTH offense and defense.

I dont care what PG is going against Fisher or Famar, that PG will not get these easy layups anymore. SG's will not be able to drive the lane as easily as before.

Our offense is going to be tops in the NBA no doubt about it. Teams will not be able to stop Kobe, Gasol, Odom and Bynum, it is just absolutely sick to think what those four will be able to do on offense. Then you can take out Odom and Fisher and put in Radman and Sasha on the outside, put the ball in Kobe's hands and see how any defense will stop that. Will he lob it up for Gasol or Bynum, or maybe he throws it to the low post which will open shots up for Sasha and Rad.

Things are going to be good in Lakerland this year. We will be back in the Finals if we stay healthy. Everything will be improved. The Lakers are going to be on a mission after being embarrassed in the Finals this year. Mark it down.

Lyk13: That is what is suppose to happen. We all know how sports are, things dont always go according to play. But the Lakers IF healthy, will most likely do what I said above. I have no doubts in my mind about it.

I trust you on that. I've learnt to watch how they will play rather than expect how they will play....that's probably just me. :P

Our D should be much improved with Bynum down low.

I think we can play good defense in spurts, but I'd like to see us play consistently good defense. Bynum will definitely help but there are still some rotation and help situations that need to be worked on and that can only be alleviated by repeatedly doing it in practice.

no Walton/Slalom as starters = upgraded D by default...

We should be better, Pau will be better at his position, and Bynum will help a lot. Kobe always helps.

We can play defense and we will do it almost perfectly with Bynum in the middle.

Arguably the greatest franchise ever
