Here are my latest Power Rankings

I got a lot of flak last week for keeping the Lakers at #1 - but that was consistent with the system I use. They're still at #1.
Thanks

I agree with their placement, but I don't think they're "better than their record". i believe that team is right in line with where they should be. They still have a slew of problems - the least of which being that they have no clue how to do anything unless LeBron is on the court.

I think we have the better case since we've been doing what we've been doing without Gasol & some games Bynum & Kobe is leading the league in scoring and steals. Boston pretty much has everyone and they've lost the same amount of games as us.
Also in the much weaker overall Eastern Conference.

The one team they played that is playing well, Phoenix, they lost to - at home.
The case for Boston is weak.
The reason the Lakers are #1 (for now) is because of the way the team has stepped up in the absence of 2 starters that are big contributors to the cause.

I believe espn's argument take's into consideration: 8 games in 12 nights, 4 on the road, 4 against play- off teams from last year and 3 back2back game sets. 7-1 record with the leagues best point differential and best defense. The Lakers didnt have all their dogs and they still won, but is that more impressive than the Celtics? Watching NBA TV and some of the other shows, the analyst are giving huge props from the 7-1 after 8 games in 12 nights. I tend to listen more to former players than guys who never made a lay up and they are saying thats huge, especially at the beginning of the season...Boston has played a low level of competition (yes, a struggling Cavs team included).
