Happens much too often, or perhaps all the time. Why?

Example:

http://lakernation.com/forums/index.php?/topic/30790-rihanna-breaks-silence-about-chris-brown/page__st__60

62 replies in there, but on info only says & shows it has 4 views. That's just not possible.

I've noticed too. Maybe the views are updated every certain time :hmm:

I don't remember this ever being a problem though before the site/forum changes, much like the search function (which has now thankfully been improved by Real Deal) though still not what it used to be.

^ 7 different people have posted in that thread so far. That's crazy though. Now it has 74 replies and 264 views, big jump from 64 & 4 views, but I just clicked into it and clicked out and repeated the process like 3 times to see if the views went up at all & it didn't. So I guess it's just kinda late & inconsisistent? I'm not sure, but all I do know is before the forum changes, this never used to happen at all. It was always 100% accurate and up to date.

It's a conspiracy by the NBA to boost ratings

That thread seems to be fine now. 74 replies / 276 views. The stats update could be set to low, so it takes longer to update.

Topic views are written to another table and the topic views update every 3 hours. This will significantly reduce overhead on the topics table if you have a very busy board as it overcomes the write lock initiated when the topic counter is updated.
