Kobe's stats pre-injury and after injury:

Kobe pre-injury:
46 games, 45.9% FG, 83.6% FT, 35.6% 3P, 8.8 FTA/gm, 5.1 3PA/gm

Kobe post-injury (including playoffs):
57 games: 46.5% FG, 83.1% FT, 34.4% 3P, 9.4 FTA/gm, 5.0 3PA/gm

Forum Blue and Gold

Pretty much no difference at all. Some food for thought.

This has made me think about "how good are we without Kobe?" With our talent, I still think we're a top 5 team without Kobe if we are healthy. There's NO, Houston, Utah, Portland that are better than us without our star. I'd include the Spurs, but they're missing Ginobili for 3 months. Suns and Mavs are done. Those 2 along with GSW and maybe the Nuggets will be fighting over 6-8. Kobe has nothing to fear as far as us making the playoffs. Personally I think he wants to play the whole season so that he can win the MVP again. That, and he also wants to be present at the start of training camp with the team because he doesn't want to miss a minute of this legendary season  .

I don't know if you thought I was implying he faked it, or if you were just joking. I wasn't implying that, I'm actually happy because there is no dropoff in the stats.

I wouldn't mind seeing how the team ran with Sash in there at the 2.

Well according to the original post, multiple hand specialists told him 12 weeks, hence the reason why he isn't doing it. If it was a couple weeks, I'm sure he'd do it. He doesn't want to take a risk on some very off chance that he'll heal a couple weeks early.

Agree with it or not, Kobe knows his body and what he's capable of better than anyone.

I would've liked to have seen it done, but there's a legit case to be made against it as well.

Unfortunately, it doesn't make the season start any earlier.

Nah I wasn't implying you at all. Just that a lot of people have been calling fake and the stats keep them crying out fake.

He's so fake, he used to annoy me on aim daily before and after each Lakers game, and probably will this season.

After a 50pt game, "KOBE=GOAT... FEAR!!!!!!!!!"
After a 6-17 shooting game "KOBE=WOAT, LAMAR IS THE MVP!!!"

Should I make a new thread with some of his famous aim quotes? Haha. Since I'm sure everyone here knows him/is a fan of is. We had to perma-ban him from another forum like 3 times.

That wouldn't be a bad idea haha. He makes good mixes though, and I joined CL after he was banned so I never seen him post.

It's for the best. The pinky isn't bothering him and he hasn't said that it has ever since he got injured. It's just a minor injury that we can't risk the beginning of the season without Kobe. Let's hope his pinky doesn't get worse because that's probably the worse case scenario in this situation.

KB42POINTS@Half flip flops more than John Kerry. Guy is as emotional as a 13 year old teenage girl. One day Kobe is the goat, the next he is an over glorified Role player who isn't better Baron Davis.

Yup, he said it can't get any worse so it's all good.

seriously do that. M2 is a treasure chest for his quotes, especially the now gone, kobe discussion thread.
if anyone dissed kobe he would back him to the full no matter how off he was. at the same time, no one is harder on kobe.

its like a gun that shoots both ways.

He's going to have two 7 footers in his starting line up, which wont require him to take so many outside shots. So i don't think it will have that much of an effect.

It's his on-court presence and what he can do without the ball...we all know what he can do WITH the ball.

If only he did it immediately after the Olympics, he could've been back by the 3rd week of the season. But 12 weeks sounds a bit much for a pinky injury. Anyone remember what exactly was wrong with his pinky?

I could go dig my videos and screenshot a ESPN game that has it...but I can't recall at which point it has that pic...may update in a while.

Yea. Proves he's faking it. :hyper:

He did have some serious discomfort after the 1st or 2 games after the injury, but gradually adjusted himself to it.

He's so fake, he used to annoy me on aim daily before and after each Lakers game, and probably will this season.

What a dork....scrap him out from the face of planet earth.

Not a shocker. Nobody announces a surgery date. He would have had that setup months ago as he already knew the itinerary of the Olympics...

I guess he didn't see the long term value of getting the pinky fixed...especially if they want to get off to a hot start.

There may be permanent damage already that cant be corrected easily. That's what I'm thinking. As long as it's functional, fixing the damage AND regaining previous function would DOUBLE or TRIPLE rehab time.

It's not like Kobe's had that thing in a cast. He's been banging it around day after day, month after month...for 7 months now?

No biggie. The way he's got it taped, he's probably already trained his ring finger to compensate...that's good enough.

And with Pau AND Bynum back? I don't think he anticipates major fgas or minutes played.
