Kobe did what was best in his opinion and that is to play his pink doesn't even effect his game he has the little brace on it and if he can dunk with it hes good.

Next year he better get it

He's going to have two 7 footers in his starting line up, which wont require him to take so many outside shots. So i don't think it will have that much of an effect.

Ya I know, Bynum and Gasol will just dominate untill kobe is good.

That is if Bynum's 100% healthy.

Uh, I'm not sure what to think of this.

not 12 weeks of the season

if he gets it now, it takes 12 weeks to recover so he'll miss about 2-3 weeks when the season starts

If only he did it immediately after the Olympics, he could've been back by the 3rd week of the season. But 12 weeks sounds a bit much for a pinky injury. Anyone remember what exactly was wrong with his pinky?

Think you're a bit confused. Season starts in exactly 7 weeks, on Tuesday Oct. 28. He'll be out at least 5 weeks into the season which is over a month.

knowing that kobe is a quick healer he could be back before the entire 12 weeks

He should just get it done so no more injury can be done even though i know that nothing more can be done to it. Last season i noticed that after the injury his handles were a little off and his shot was not going in as much. I just hope that he changes his mind and gets the surgery done. Like MDI said missing the first couple weeks will do no real harm. We still have an elite team that can keep us in everything. And it wont really matter much in the standings. Season starts in about 7 weeks and im sure Kobe could heal in about 10-12 weeks if expected recovery is 12 weeks. He would only be missing about 10-15 games which is a lot but nothing that would slow this team down. I just want to see Kobe at 100% and i don't want to see him struggle during the season(which wont happen but just a concern).

I had a feeling this would happen.

It worries me a little bit because Kobe has said the way the pinkie is taped to the ring finger affects his release, but we can't afford to be without him for a couple of months.

Sorry if I missed it, but whats the estimated recovery time?

"The very basic core of a man's living spirit is his passion for adventure.
The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences,
and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon,
for each day to have a new and different sun."

If you missed everything, he's not having surgery at all. Forgo =/= undergo.

And if you just missed the first post, it would have taken up to 12 weeks.
