Life is just as much about what you make of it than what life makes of you. If this were true, it truly makes individualism a very powerful concept, much less one's attitude toward how they perceive and live their life. You may very well be in a grim situation. Does that mean you need to feel sad about it and let the grim reality dictate your behavior? You can let social forces dictate behavior, or you can overcome any factor by making an individual choice to perceive and live your life at a different level. Best illustrated, if you live a life of love and happiness through the events of sadness and difficulty, which is the greater outcome?
