Alright, excuse me for making the mistake between "best rapper alive" and "best hip-hop artist alive", but the truth of the matter is that he is neither. Sure, he may have some "flow", but even a monkey can rhyme "flower" with "showers", or "bowels" with "vowels". Where's the meaning to his lyrics?

The few times I've actually bothered to read the lyrics of his songs, I've found no depth or meaning to them at all. "Lollipop", "A Milli", what the [expletive] is the point of these songs? I'm fascinated at how someone who writes with such simplicity can be considered one of the elite amongst his peers.

I'm probably just a hater, but I don't see any one reason to like this guys songs.

i'm not saying he's the best anything. i don't even know why i'm defending him really, i'm not a Wayne fan by any means, I can just see why people like him.

You're reading the lyrics. You have to listen to the way he makes things work. As for the meaning, some of his songs don't have any real meaning... especially the two you mention... buuut, some do.

For instance, 'Tie My Hands' is about the hardships of post-Katrina New Orleans and the political injustice surrounding it... also, 'Got Money' is about making millions of dollars and making it rain on [expletive]es. There's meaning.

If you don't like it, you don't like it.

Well the buzz was from the massive ammount of success his mixtapes generated. Thats the way it seemed to me atleast. He actually displayed some good lines and lyrical ability in some of those tracks from his mixtapes. I understood the hype, but to me the album was a complete let down. Classic display of selling out and dumbing it down. But the hardheaded just heard the good beats and ran with it as if it was the ish they had been wanting to hear all along.

he is wack but his ight at word play and he comes up with SOME sick verses
like this one, idk if its just me but i love this verse lol

No one on the corner has swagger like moi, Church
but I'm too clean for these boys
I require what I desire I got stripes, A-di-das
Mami scream papi no mas
Run up in your [expletive] just me no moss
Runnin this [expletive] like I got four thighs
none has swagger like this four gods!
When it comes to styles I got several
sharper than a swagger, dagger all metal
And my jew-elz blue and yellow
the type of [expletive] that make em call you Carmelo
Rules as follows stay true to the ghetto
write your name on the bullet make you feel special
Haaa!!!
What the f**k you boys talking about?
I know its us cuz we the only thing you talk about

Wayne sucks. I too hate his flow and his nasty voice. He's all over the radio with the wack ish he says.

But you can't just ask how can people like him.

Everyone has different tastes, and the hot thing in "hip-hop" right now is all these cotton candy pop mofos with the fakeass synthesized or w/e voices, where every song sounds the same. The mainstream crowd doesn't wanna hear Talib's lyrical ability, they wanna dance to Weezy who should be in a diaper cuz he's the [expletive].

Yeah, lyrically he sucks, but he's famous for the style he brings. his voice is unlike anyone else. that combines with the way he emphasizes certain syllables has set him apart from others.

secondly, your bus driver could probably get fired for playing Lollipop.

agreed. lyrically he jst sucks alot...i m not gonna say i like him but i wouldn't say dat i don't either...
my opinions bout wayne not dat many he sucks but wateva..i don't listen 2 his music i jst turn it off

2 rappers I hate the most on one stage? Thank God I passed on the VMAs... Add in Akon, and you have the holy trinity of the worst rappers of the decade.

Kobe has bad taste in music.

Lil Wayne is trash? Most of yall hatin on this man prob havent even listened to most of his work, prob just listened to Lollipop and wrote him off. I aint a huge Wayne fan but the man has some skill, most of his mixtapes were hot. I dont think he is the best rapper alive or even close to the top twenty but he is just hated on cuz everybody is doing it. And the only reason he is big is cuz he was huge in the hood for a while and once the public got on him he blew up and made his music suffer. Its just like 50, I aint a fan of him but he had some ill underground stuff and once the public caught and he blew up he became garbage.
