I don't know if this picture will help, but I tried closing some of the processes down and still no progress....

Don't know if this will help?

If I open FireFox and AIM, this crap starts going super slow, and at times.. it freezes.

have you already run a worthwhile spyware/virus scan and googled the running processes that you aren't able to identify to figure out if they're necessary?

How much RAM does he have?

It's all spyware and junk. Download some cleaners and you'd be fine.

i've run multiple full-system scans that lasted about an hour or two.. they showed no problems. I have like 4 or 5 viruses in my quarantine..

Um, I'll try to get a screenshot of my processes tab in a bit once i get on my computer.

I actually use CCleaner, which is one of the best cleaners and that crap steadies up my computer, but then at times it freezes and then it goes back to being super slow. Doesn't help the start-up or anything.

I've ran Defragment checks, etc.

judging from that picture.. i would take a random stab... its either 512 MB(only bcuz 289MB is almost half way of his usage) or 1GB.

try upgrading your rams to 1GB or 1.5GB (make sure you check how much your computer can handle. it should be on a sticker on the side of your motheboard, at least mine is if not, check the manufacturer's site)

& i can see why you're having problems lol. im barely using AIM, mozilla, avg and rainmeter on and its 500MB ish :x

btw btw, i am not 100% sure if this will help your improve your computer, still learning' about them myself

:nervous:
Vista is most def not the answer. I'd go with looking into upgrading your RAM after cleaning out your PC and closing processes you don't recognize, google them as suggested.

run > msconfig > uncheck all the programs that are useless that popup when you startup your computer.

ie: adobe, AIM, et. al

should shave a few seconds from the startup.

more ram, or if your hardware is dated you should get some new hardware.

i'm sure there's more solutions if you just google it.

I'd plow Vanessa Bryant.

You definitely need more RAM.
Don't even consider Vista, It wouldn't even start with your system.

The best thing you can do is format the computer and buy more ram.
