New Orleans Saints kicker Garrett Hartley is expected to be officially suspended for the first four regular season games. Apparently, Hartley violated the NFL's substance abuse policy by taking Adderall, a stimulant which is most commonly used to keep you awake by increasing alertness and concentration.

The 23-year old Hartley says he got the prescription drug from a college friend to stay awake during a long drive from Dallas to New Orleans during the offseason.

Hartley says he was unaware that Adderall was a banned substance by the NFL. Hartley's suspension is the sixth in three seasons for a member of the New Orleans Saints for use of a banned substance.

I had no idea Adderall was even a big deal. My friend took it(probably still does) and said it never really did anything except for make him lose his appetite.

^ Well having an advantage in concentration and focus in a game is a big help. I understand where the league is coming from, but I don't know the strength of Adderall.
