Check your task manager, see if anything is eating up your memory. Firefox supposedly got rid of their memory hogging issues, and there's AIM alternatives that don't hog resources (like MirandaIM i think it's called). But yea, generally 500MB ain't gonna cut it in this day and age.

Just get a new computer... Ad-Aware is a great spyware program and I just downloaded it on one of my Aunt's laptops that was giving her probs and it was fine.
Wow. 504 MB of RAM. It'll be a ton cheaper though just to get more RAM, you can prob get 2GB with no cut in the cash.

My laptop has 504 megs of RAM and I don't have problems with insufficient memory. It's got to be something else. You need to upgrade your RAM.
Do you have a laptop?

Most likely your hard drive is running out of space, and so your page file(virtual memory) is too small to sufficiently run all the programs you want.
A lack of RAM is part of the issue, but the primary problem is something to do with your page file.
512MB isn't a lot, but is more than enough to run an array of basic programs simultaneously.
Are you running XP, Windows 2000, Vista?
