yea. on ATL sports radio they said the Falcons wont try to move Grimes unless Revis is signed. And that if ATL doesnt move Grimes prior to landing Revis it wouldnt have any affect on their efforts.

So if we dont get him, atleast we get Grimes back.

http://espn.go.com/b...about-matt-ryan

I know there is a lot of talk from Atlanta Falcons fans about how the release of Michael TurnerJohn Abraham and Dunta Robinson could mean Atlanta is going after Dwight Freeney and Steven Jackson

That could happen because the Falcons suddenly have decent salary-cap room. But I’m not sure Friday morning’s moves were as much about Jackson and Freeney as they are aboutSam BakerWilliam Moore and Brent Grimes. Those are Atlanta’s top three free agents and I fully expect the Falcons to make an attempt to keep them.

But there’s another layer to these moves that can’t be ignored. That’s quarterback Matt Ryan's contract.

He’s scheduled to head into the final season of his contract. I don’t see the Falcons doing what the Ravens did with Joe Flacco last season or what the Bucs appear to be doing withJosh Freeman for this upcoming season.

I see no way the Falcons let Ryan go into the 2013 season without a long-term contract extension. The Falcons are as high as can be on Ryan and he’s happy in Atlanta. Every indication I’ve gotten is the Falcons will try to lock Ryan up for the long term some time this spring.

That’s going to take a lot of money and I’m not talking just this year. Ryan’s going to cost $15 million to $20 million a season.

Turner’s contract was going to expire after the 2013 season, so his release was just a short-term move.

But the departures of Abraham and Robinson were about much more than just 2013. Abraham had been scheduled to count $6.75 million against the 2014 salary cap.

Robinson was scheduled to count $11 million against the 2014 cap and $12.5 million against the 2015 cap. Those numbers now are off the books.

The Falcons have cleared the way to fit a massive contract for Ryan under the cap in future years.

yea, makes sense. But I think Arthur Blank is very aggressive and wants to bring a SB to ATL. The guy spends the $. He hasnt been the owner that long and already so many people can see the difference. Like the article says there no way in hell hes letting Ryan go anywhere. I think they land Stevens or Reggie Bush for sure. They know how Turners failures to get short yardage when it counted hurt us all season. I dont see the advantage of Freeny over Abraham. Its 1 old guy for another imo.
The Abraham cut was a shock to everyone in ATL.

Abraham was interviewed about getting cut, he was rocking all falcons gear and said nothing but good things about the falcons organization

i think he may end up resigning with a much reduced contract

First I've heard of him...and that's shocking to me because I follow football VERY closely

Here's his wiki...

Must be something about him that ATL likes.

Financing terms reached for new Falcons stadium

ATLANTA (AP) -- Atlanta's mayor and Falcons owner Arthur Blank have agreed to financing terms for a new $1 billion, retractable-roof stadium to replace the 20-year-old Georgia Dome and keep the team's home games in the city's downtown, the two men said Thursday.

Mayor Kasim Reed said the city would provide $200 million of construction costs through bonds backed by the city's hotel-motel tax. The Falcons franchise, owned by Home Depot co-founder Arthur Blank, would provide $800 million and be responsible for construction cost overruns.

The Falcons would pay for up to $50 million in infrastructure costs not included in the construction budget and help retire the last few years of debt on the Georgia Dome, which was publicly financed entirely using the hotel-motel tax.

Also, Blank's private foundation and the city each would spend $15 million on surrounding neighborhood development.

Blank - who has built his football franchise into a perennial playoff contender - still must negotiate a detailed lease and operating agreement with the Georgia World Congress Center. That's the state agency that owns the existing dome and would own the replacement. Reed also must get the blessing of the Atlanta City Council, though several members attended the announcement in the mayor's office, as did Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal.

Officials said the deal presumes the stadium would be built immediately south of the existing Georgia Dome, though that is contingent on securing adjacent property that is not yet publicly owned. A secondary site is available several blocks north of the current stadium.

The Georgia Dome would be demolished after the new stadium opens.

Nmandi was cut from the Eagles

I would love it if ATL went after him! He definitely will not be asking for what Revis is, he's coming off a healthy year, and is probably looking to prove himself all over again. this dude was the prize of the FA 2 years ago, i know he's still got it! he was just in a bad situation in Philly.

Big time signing for the Falcons.  Jackson will really help open up that passing game.  Hopefully he can stay healthy
