Overrated and Underrated players in the NBA

In the NBA, like in every sport, there are players who are not given the credit that they rightfully deserve. On the other hand, there are players who are also in the league that are given far too much credit...

Underrated:

Tayshaun Prince, Hedo Turkoglu, Monta Ellis, Joe Johnson, Chris Kaman, Al Jefferson, Kevin Martin (although I detest him...), Tony Parker, Luol Deng, Michael Redd, Shawn Marion (Though he's asking for too much money...)

Overrated:

Dwyane Wade (Ugh ;) him), Paul Pierce, Rashard Lewis (Contract waaay too big), Yao Ming (At 7'6...never mind)

All of this is IMO.

Who do you think is overrated/underrated in the NBA?

Pierce is overrated

and Kevin Martin is underrated

I agree with your underrated list except for Tony Parker. I'd add Pierce, Roy, Caron Butler, and David West to the underrated list as well. As for overrated, I'd say Shaq, Oden, Wade, Vince Carter, Dirk, Arenas, and thats all i can think of for now.

Because he was drafted with such high expectations and has yet to play one game.

Chauncey Billups is consistently one of the most underrated players in the game.

Monta Ellis was #1 on my uderrated list. I'm probably going to have to take him off after he signed that veafty contract yesterday.

Like mentioned, Billups is still a tad underrated, as is Kevin Martin.

Overrated? Probably Wade because of all the publicity he gets - he hasn't lived up to any of it since winning the Finals.

Dirk has also been a consistent choker.

My exact thought. Until the Lakers played them in the finals, I had no idea he was so good.

I think Ben Wallace was the OG of this trend, he was very underrated in Detroit, up until that last year, then he became the most overrated.

Most underrated stars by position:
PG: Chauncey Billups. He was, AT WORST, the 3rd best PG last season behind Paul and Williams. I personally think he had a better regular season than Deron. Shout out to Calderon.
SG: Kevin Martin. Where is the respect for Kevin Martin? He IS a star. Period. He out-produced his opponents by EIGHT PER points. He is an efficient scoring machine who is among the leaders in not only distance shooting, but getting to the rim and drawing fouls. He does everything offensively and, though he isn't a great defender, he is QUICK and it causes problems for his opponents. I'd also like to give a shot out to Rip Hamilton here. He had the 3rd best post-season among all SGs, but is never mentioned among the Top 5 guys. I don't think he is Top 5, but credit where credit is due.
SF: Andre Iguodala. The 4th best SF in the league IMHO. Shout out to Hedo.
PF: Chris Bosh. He has Dirkesque scoring abilities, but with supreme athleticism and at least serviceable defense. He can also board. He had a better season than Amare Stoudemire. Shout out to Lamarcus Aldridge.
C: Zydrunas Ilgauskas! Why does no one mention his name among the top 5 centers anymore? He should be there. Period. His minutes have been reduced due to age, but when he does play, he plays SOLID defense, blocks shots, is a great rebounder, can score in the post, AND has a jumper to space the court for LeBron. He's underrated. Shout out to big Andrew Bynum here.
