Los Angeles Dodgers manager Joe Torre announced before Saturday's win over the Astros that right-hander Jason Schmidt, who hasn't pitched in the majors since July 16, 2007, will be activated from the 60-day disabled list on Monday night to start against Cincinnati.

The Dodgers have used 18 different starting pitchers since Schmidt, a three-time All-Star, was shut down because of shoulder problems that required surgery.

Schmidt, 36, has been in the league for 13 years. He has a career record 128-94 record with a 3.94 ERA.

Lets see if Schmidt has anything left...

He will get 3 starts before the trade deadline. Then the Dodgers can decide how screwed they are. I'm the biggest Dodger fan and I think Schmidt will be ok. Over 100 pitches in his last few rehab starts. There was even a game where he pitched 7 1/3 ininnings and didnt give up a run at triple A.

Hopefully he can be somewhat successful. Some of you guys are way to hard on the guy. You act like it was his fault his arm started to have problems. Many good pitchers have had their careers destroyed because of arm issues. Give the guy a break. Its not like he came in and did not perform because of ability. He did not perform because of an injury.

Yeah thats all true but what if he knew he was hurt and he took us for chumps? Still if the Dodgers are paying him I want him to do good.

If was hurt when he signed with the Dodgers then he wouldn't have made it through a full spring training with the team. He would have lasted two games max.

Very shaky first inning, but other then that he was solid by allowing the one hit over the next four innings.
