Hey,
the schedules say the official season starts on October 28 with a laker game, but then why are there games in the beginning of October?
If these are "preseason" games, what is the point of them? and do they show on TV?

pre-season...
The point? To prepare them better for the season. There's only so much you can do practicing with the same people every week.

preseason games are to see how undefinite contract players play. i believe you can have up to 18 players until regular season starts and then you have to cut down to 15. (example: coby karl, joe crawford, dwayne mitchell, blah blah blah)

As others have mentioned - you cut down roster spaces for the regular season, get some rotations down (most importantly the 2nd and 3rd rotations) and most of all, allow your players to get in a groove.
If you're the Heat you want Beasley, a rookie, to get used to the system before the season starts. It allows players and coaches to get somewhat acquainted.

Pre-season is always a norm...why are people so amused at the idea? It's just to get the engine running.
