Miami?? Doubt itttttt....

Well LO did have his best season stat-wise with the Heat back in 2004.

Even taking them as far as the second round of the playoffs.

So four years at 36 million to stay with the Lakers, or 5 years 34 million to go to the heat. You get an extra year but 2 million less. I'm not a sports agent, but...

But the scuttlebutt now is that only 3 years were offered by the Lakers and the sticking point was that fourth year, so who knows what to believe. Even so, if Lamar plays well the next 3 years, he'll still be worth someone's MLE on a new 3 year deal after that, so what's his gripe?

Next off-season is going to get so much worse. With all the big name free agents like Wade/Lebron/Bosh are going to set a ridiculous amount of money and other free agents will be asking for big time paychecks because of that. People think Odom and Ariza's agents were stupid this season? Wait till next season when all these agents will be on a whole different level of stupidity and greed.

It is only free of taxes for half the games or roughly half, since he pays taxes for the days he works in other states. I used to have a friend that her dad was a former MLB player, their taxes every year were a nightmare because of having to pay taxes in all the states he played in, well he was a coach then, during the prior year. Probably worse for baseball players since they play so many more games.

So while he will save money there I have seen some articles estimating that it brings the money to a point where it isn't as close as some people are talking. At this point though he won't be leaving for more money, just more years.

and it's only state taxes, not federal.

Odom should go to whoever pays the highest.

If that's not us, then good luck on his new team :).

Stephen A always favors the player when there is a dispute between a player and mgmt. He does it probably for a future interview. He is a suck up. He just talks like he is his own man but that is just for show and ratings.

he is a SUCK Up.. i highly agree wid u on this one man

I got word that Odom took the 4 years for 36 million offer to stay with the Lakers.

Not official yet, but that's what's being funneled my way today (as of 7/16/09, 2:03 PST).

C: Bynum / Mbenga
PF: Gasol / Odom / Powell
SF: Artest / Walton / Morrison
SG: Bryant / Vujacic / Yue
PG: Fisher / Farmar / Brown

That's 14, 1 more than the Lakers want to carry into the season. Meaning there's one cut to come, so no more players will be signed.

Again, no crazy celebration yet. Not official, just in the works.

I told you...

LO wanted the 4th year guaranteed and Buss finally gave him a guaranteed 4 year deal.

Where are the people who bashed only because he was being greedy?

Like Fido said, its not official yet, so lets not start celebrating so soon. With how this situation is going, I wouldn't be surprised to see it take another weird twist.
