There will be plenty of coaches out there that can bring USC back to prominence, its too bad we have to wait a few months to see it play out.

What are some names that would personally interest you WC?

I think the USC head coaching situation is going to be very interesting.

USC has always been a program that runs a pro-style offense, which has worked in the past, but over the last 3-4 years, college football has changed.  Oregon has really changed the way the game is played and I think USC may look to transition towards the new style of college football.

The most important thing is for USC to get a COLLEGE FOOTBALL COACH, not an NFL guy.  USC will always produce NFL talent, notably on the defensive side of the ball.

Here are some choices I would be happy with -

Chris Petersen (Boise State) - CP was contacted back in 2010 but had just signed an extension with Boise so he declined.  He's taken the Boise State program to great heights and his results definitely show that he does more with less.  USC will look to go after him again undoubtedly.  I do wonder if Petersen might be ready to move on from Boise and go onto a new challenge (whether that's at USC or somewhere else).

Art Briles (Baylor) - This is a guy that would bring a different philosophy to USC.  He runs a spread offense and has turned Baylor's offense into one of the best in college football over the last few years.  Gone would be the days of protypical NFL quarterbacks at USC as Briles loves to use mobile QB's.  Also has strong recruiting ties in Texas which would be huge for USC.  Not sure if he's ready to leave Baylor but throwing 4-5 million at him might be enough.

Kevin Sumlin (Texas A&M) - Not sure how realistic this one is, but he has been linked to USC in the past. Just signed an extension but is only making 3 million and like I said for Briles, USC is going to throw money at whatever coach they want.  Another guy with an uptempo offense.

Others:

Charlie Strong (Louisville)

Kirby Smart (Alabama)

Pat Fitzgerald (Northwestern)

You guys hear about some of the USC players including Marquis Lee holding an unannounced to Kiffin & the coaches players only meeting behind his back? Pretty interesting stuff.

Yeah it was a few days ago.  Just a situation getting more and more entertaining.

Lee said it, then Kennard said on Twitter he didn't know anything about it, but was identified as one of the players who spoke at the meeting (he is a captain).

Kiffin's control over the program is non-existent.  I'll just be happy when he's gone and we can get back to playing football without the stupid distractions.

Would you like to see Max Browne given a shot instead of the other two not very impressive QBs? After all, as young & inexperienced as MB is, he still is said to have a much higher ceiling yes?

It's pointless to burn his red shirt this season.  Save his eligibility for an offensive coordinator that knows how to run an effective offense.

I'm excited for Browne to take over the offense which will most likely be next season.  Tall kid at 6'5 and has a nice arm.  He really does remind me of a young Peyton Manning.  He'll definitely be an NFL prospect in a few years, he fits the mold of an NFL quarterback more so than any QB recently at USC.

It was nice seeing Kessler finally given the reign on offence. Alot of people in my town are really excited that he found in his first true start. I remember watching him play against my high school and even own an autographed card. It'll be nice if ends up being really good lol, just not good against my bruins. :)

Love Kevin sumlin, another interesting name would be Mike gundy

The truth is USC needs to make the move to a spread because with the athletes they get and the name of their program they'll get the best mobile qbs in the country, they'll get the best receivers etc

My issue with Peterson is he's small school and there's been a ton of cases where small school guys can't make the jump

Kirby smart is a solid name because he'll get the recruits and bring the defense

There will be options. This is a mount Rushmore program. When the position is open everyone is aware

Especially with the sanctions coming to an end, coaches will be lining up.

Sumlin is an interesting name.  If Manziel decides to go pro, does Sumlin get out of the SEC and come to the Pac12?

There are going to be plenty of big names interested.

Part of me has a huge hope for a spread but I'm fine with the traditional offense

At least we won't have dives on 3rd and 7 or stretches with run, run, play action every 3 downs
