Pete Carroll on Damian Williams: He's had an ongoing quad bruise. He could go if he wanted, but we held him out today.
No additional news on Kris O'Dowd. Carroll is heading to get the results of his MRI immediately after practice.
Patrick Hall was in uniform at practice. He still is not cleared, but Carroll thinks he will be able to practice tomorrow.
The running game was pretty special today, as CJ Gable, Allen Bradford and Stafon Johnson all had big touchdown runs.
Several players were held out due to last night's scrimmage, simply to give them a day off, including Jeff Byers and Charles Brown.
Devon Kennard made a nice defensive play on Marc Tyler and received congratulations from all of the defensive coaches.
Coach Carroll admitted to being "Punk'd" during today's practice, when Everson Griffen and Bradford staged a fumble/dogpile that turned into a fake fight. Asked if he would get revenge, Carroll said, "Oh, yes."

I used to hate SC football. But man, as much as I love defense, SC has the most talented D in the country.
The defense last year was phenomenal . This year will most likely be a level down, but they have the potential to be better then last years defense. Taylor Mays will be the leader of the defense. Look out for Everson Griffen on the DE.
Patrick Hall, a freshman Safety suffered an ACL injury and could be out for the year.
Armond Armstead, a Soph. DE, may need surgery for a broken bone in his foot.
Even with those injuries, the Trojans are loaded with talent. Its quite ridiculous in my opinion. Names to remember, Tyron Smith, TJ Bryant, and Jordan Campbell

LOS ANGELES -- Freshman Matt Barkley was named No. 4 Southern California's starting quarterback on Thursday.
With an outstanding performance at training camp, Barkley beat out sophomore Aaron Corp to get the start in the Trojans' season opener against San Jose State at the Coliseum on Sept. 5. Coach Pete Carroll unexpectedly announced his decision several hours before practice and two days before USC's mock game.
"He has exceeded all our expectations," Carroll said in a statement. "He has all the physical ability. He has the mentality and temperament to handle the position. His personality is very well received by all the players, and he's extremely talented. At this point, he's ready to be the guy for us."

i think he will win a heisman, multiple national titles
i still love the defense and the O-line is looking stout with all its returners
and the stable of trojan horses in the backfield is unmatched in sports
