y doesnt anyone think that the number one pick will be rookie of the year?

Because he is currently playing on a team Kirk Hinrich and will have limited minutes(unless Kirk is moved soon). Also, traditionally, PGs are among some of the players to take longest to develop into highly productive assets -- right up there with Cs. It takes longer to get adjusted to the game speed and to learn to control the flow of the game when you're a PG because you have to be aware of so much more than say... an off-guard or a scoring forward (Beasley and Mayo).

It's nice to have goals... That doesn't make them a reality.

Rose isn't as NBA ready as Mayo and Beasley. He CERTAINLY isn't even CLOSE to as NBA ready as Oden.

Look at every other PG in the league.

Only two years later:
20/11/4 on 52.4 eFG%

Even Paul made HUMONGOUS improvements from his rookie year.

Effective Field Goal Percentage; the formula is (FG + 0.5 * 3P) / FGA. This statistic adjusts for the fact that a 3-point field goal is worth one more point than a 2-point field goal. For example, suppose Player A goes 4 for 10 with 2 threes, while Player B goes 5 for 10 with 0 threes. Each player would have 10 points from field goals, and thus would have the same effective field goal percentage (50%).

OJ DEFINATELY will not win it. Whenever he faced any decent defender he sucked. He's gonna be #2 in Memphis and he has a really tough time when he isn't the #1 option. All I remember is when the Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year guarded him, he had 4 pts and 10 TOs. Imagine what's gonna happen when he has to face NBA players who are bigger and stronger?

Do you really think Michael Beasley would win with Dwyane Wade and Shawn Marion on the team? Surely his numbers would go down because of them right.
