If the US plays Brazil and beats them can we call them "World Champs"? ;)

No, because there is actually a World Championship in which Italy are the holders of. The discussion of the Lakers was also at Club Level, not International Level. ;)

You should know that the big countries view this Tournament as a "Pre-Season" to the World Cup.

They were missing Iniesta and Senna BIG TIME!

This, and defence and overconfidence was bound to set in at some point.

Brazil just beat Italy, so if USA beats Brazil we will have to be World Champs.

No, because this competition, as I said before, is NOT the World Cup so therefore the winners are NOT World Champions.

And as I said earlier, what we were discussing was about CLUB level, not INTERNATIONAL level.

If an American team won the Club World Championship, THEN They would be world champions.

Nope. the Cofederations cup is the most useless "official" tournament ever.

it's even worse than the league cup in the EPL. I mean, sure it's a trophy, and you're happy to win it, but it gives you nothing more than maybe the chance to see how some of the younger players in the side can do.

personally, the U-21 Euro tournament has been a lot more fun to watch

Agree but Spain, Italy and Brazil (the rest too of course) wanted to win. Villa said after the game: "This was like a world championship to us". I know the players was tired after a long european season but the most of the USA players play in europe too. Imagine USA basketball national team loss against a not top 20 national team. Repeat, no excuses.

Enjoy the victory!!

Italy actually did not want to win, Lippi said in Italian that he'd rather not bother about this competition because he doesn't want his players losing mental focus on this.

If Spain wanted to win then you must be pretty desperate for a trophy.

A team always has to be mentally prepared to win everything.
Lippi should focus on finding younger players because this Italian team isn't going to win the World cup

I agree.

For one, I don't understand why he didn't bring in Davide Santon. Perfect time to give the young star some games and see what he can do.

The problem is that I think alot of the older players have lost some fight, even the guys like Pirlo. Definitely needs to change things up alot for the next WC, and this Competition would have been good to test the younger players.

Oh darth how do you say me that!! Do you think england national team dont want to win ever? One thing is the players dont risk their legs or are not totally focussed but I sure you Italy wanted to win. The difference is Lippi is embarrased and is talking about excuses. Its easy to Know to win but to Know to lose is not so easy.

To me would be easy talk about excuses but not. We know to lose too and we recognize USA deserved to win. Spanish class.

Lippi said before the tournament that he didn't want to take this seriously because he did not want to put pressure on the players.

In order, I'd rather England win:

World Cup
Euro Championship
Their World Cup Qualification Group

Than the Confederations Cup.

USA! USA! USA!

Can't wait for tomorrow.

But in all honesty, like most, rightfully so, I still expect Brazil to win, but at the very least, I just hope the U.S. plays with heart and passion and it's noticeable. I hope for at least a respectful result.

Trust me. I know damn well about the rivalry and everything so I know where you're coming from and I get pissed passionately when the U.S. almost always dominates MEX, but dude, c'mon. I don't know about you, but I'm Mexican-AMERICAN. Born here in the U.S. I think it'd be wrong to be an American first and NOT cheer on our country.

Game starting now. Hope it's as good as USA, Spain or as exciting as South Africa, Spain.

I'm torn. I'm Colombian so I go for South American teams, but I live in US, so I want the underdogs to play well too. Either winner, I'm happy I guess. But either loser, I feel sad. THIS SUCKS!!!!
