Sooo. I was about to turn on my laptop, and the TOSHIBA sign comes up right?
After that, it just kind of goes to a blank screen with a cursor at the top left hand corner...
what just happened?

Congrats. You own a PC.

Did it start up fine after that? Or is it still stuck that way, and you're using another computer.

Do you have any cd's/dvd's in there or an external/flash drives attached? It might be confusing those for the bootdisk depending on the boot order.

Do you have a boot-up disk available? If so, insert that and go on from there.

ouch, a computer of mines did that too. But after falling from complications from Spyware Protect 2009 virus

EDIT: for safe mode, i think you need to repeatedly press F12 during start up

For safe mode, restart the computer, and just keep tapping f8 until a menu shows up (shouldn't be long though so don't keep tapping for like 10 minutes).

If the menu doesn't show up, I guess the next thing to check is the BIOS.

Not neccessarily (at least I don't think so). It could be a hardware problem.

Send TOSHIBA your laptop for repair.

Don't buy a TOSHIBA computer next time.

It's probably a hardware problem (hard drive). Their HD's suck.
