Are they a one hit wonder like the Miami Heat? do you think with the same squad they can be an elite team again next year?

where do they go from here?

I have a feeling they're gonna unexpectedly trade Ray. haha but it's my opinion.

i think thats a good possibility as well. He does have a massive 18 million dollar expiring contract. They could deal him to a team thats looking forward to the Lebron/Wade/Bosh sweepstakes in 2010 and get some nice pieces in return.

Next season will be their last as an elite team in the East under the Ray/KG/PP era. Their window from the time of acquiring Allen and Garnett was 3 years, 4 at most. They gambled away a future for the chance to win, which they did. Soon, they'll dive back into being one of the crappier, less impressive teams and lose their massive bandwagon base.

I think they are one hit wonders like the Heat. Next season even with the return of Garnett I don't see them doing much. Pierce and Allen really stunk it up in the playoffs and they are not getting any younger.

Celts future.

  • The teams unsung heros/supporting cast breaks up. Stars get another year older.
  • Have a mediocre 09-10 season.
  • Have a even worse 10-11 season.
  • Front Office fires Doc Rivers.
  • All the so called "die hard" Celtic fans crawl back under their rocks for another 20 years like they were before they won the Championship last year.

Even with Garnett back next year I think there time is already over. From the begining we all knew this team would only last 3 or so years as an elite team. But already the Cavs and Magic are taking over the east. Miami is only getting better, same with Atlanta. Toronto will be strong next year I feel alonmg with the Sixers. The Knicks are probably getting someone huge in 2010. I think the Celtics championship run is over for awhile(:

I'm going to approach this from an objective perspective.

Lets not forget that this team did not have their best player in KG. Had they had him they would have been in the Eastern Conference Finals...no question. They still have Paul Pierce and their defense is still very good. If they remain healthy and the trio of Pierce/Allen/Garnett remains intact then they'll be a threat every year. They know how to do something we have yet to learn: Play tough and play defense.

Pau Gasol is GONE

Agree. A healthy big 3 with a good supporting cast will still make them a factor out east. Not to mention plenty of dirty playing which they seem to always get away with.

Either way they accomplished what they wanted to do which was bring a championship back to Boston. Was it worth trading away their future in AlJeff, Gomes, picks and so on? I think the answer hangs in the rafters of the Banknorth. Anytime you have the opportunity to win a championship you do it unless you have a better chance to win more championships with the team you have.
Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will.
