[Mr. Laker]

Alright, so it hasn't been the best day so far. Woke up when to work and had to hear it all day about the Lakers loss last night. Tonight i'm sure i'll hear about it when i hit the park. But anyways the things they said kind of got me thinking, maybe the Lakers aren't this amazing unbeatable team that cannot be stopped. Maybe we have overrated this team right from the start.

From the beginning of the season we have been told we are the favorites (and rightfully so), but i think i can safely say we are the worst 65 win team ever. Have we all believed the hype and even worse has the players believed the hype. We have heard this saying a lot this season, "Lakers won but they didn't even play their best basketball." I think i can safely said i haven't seen in one game this season lakers play their best ball, so what makes us so sure they are capable of doing so? Is it possible for this team to play a perfect game?

Lakers are a good team filled with talent but is it too much? We blow leads, don't play defense, take stupid shots at times mostly the bench, and as much as i love Kobe and everything hes done for us he is definitely settling for too many jump shots, play down to opponents level. Its kind of when i was younger and i would bring a bad report card and my parents would say "we know you can do better than this, but you never do" and i would reply "if i never do, then why do you expect me to?" If the Lakers never play their best, how do we know they even can?

I believe in this team, but i don't think this team is "godly" and is going to breeze threw every series like nothing. I will be posting a series of threads comparing the pros and cons of each individual Laker player so we can see exactly how good each player is. Completely unbiased opinion on each player......

Worst 65 win team ever? Can we at least wait and see how things unfold before coming out with statements like that? Did we all overrate this team a little bit? Quite possibly (though hindsight is always 20/20). But it's just one game and people are overreacting more than anything.

Breathe, people...breathe. This series is FAR from over. Lakers will bounce back; I fully believe that Phil will make the necessary adjustments for Game 2, and I don't think we'll come out that flat in another game in this series. I don't want to use the long layoff as an excuse, but it did have some affect on us. As bad as we played last night, we still had a lead in the 4th quarter and only lost by 8 points. Now's not the time to give up on the team.

Again, i am not upset over this loss. I understand this happens, but is it the coaching that teaches offense before defense? Offense can be exposed, defense can not consistently be exposed. It was one loss but one meaningless loss leads to another, this series is at least going to 6 games, and ,maybe even 7. When we do eventually win this series will be happy? Were we happy with the way we won the utah series? I wasn't, A 65 win team destroys an opponent threw 48 mins.

We beat a tough Utah team 4-1 and then lose to a hot Houston team. Yeah, we're overrated. We should tank the season because we have nothing left to play for. Let's hope for a lottery season sometime soon.

Even if it does go 6 or 7 games, who cares? If we win, that's all that matters. It's not always going to be pretty. Maybe instead of us being overrated, everyone has underrated the Rockets.

again i did not make this thread based on just last nights game. This whole season has been great but, too many close game, lack-luster defense doesn't equal championship. I UNDERSTAND THE SKY IS NOT FALLING, THEY WON WE LOST NO BIG DEAL.

How do we know that? If anything, we've seen the Lakers step it up when they've had to this season. I agree that some people need to stop thinking it's such an easy road to the Finals, but we'll see what this team is really made of soon enough.

i said we were overrated early in the regular season and will stick by it

we are not overrated because of talent we are overrated because not once this season or playoffs has our team clicked defensively and its been rare that more than 3 guys click offensively

we are either overtalented with little role players or we just have a terrible mesh of players because with this talent defensively we should be playing much more sound defense

i mean c'mon look at our roster how do we not play great defense

i tell you how we are mentally weak and even after the finals loss still have no clue what it takes to win a championship

when is the last time we played great defense. we have more defensive talent than any team in the league yet it seems teams school us on that side nightly

we're not....if you're a laker fan, like myself, im sure you watched about 95-100% of the games this season....YOU know what this team is about....


we're not perfect....but for that matter, no team is currently IMO....


you dont overrate your way to 65 wins and a # 1 seed....


the media might overrate us, but this team has the goods....we have the firepower and when we play defense, noone touches us....and that's not my inner homer talking....that's just the truth


we might not be a juggernaut like the 87 or 01 lakers but this is a championship team....


Houston, the moment they beat Portland has been crapped on by the media as having no chance against us....this while we've sat around for 6 days readin the same reports...you didnt think they were gonna come out swinging?



IMO, Houston gave us their money punch last night....they dropped an overhand right to our grill...this fight will be over soon after we let our punches go...

During the 3peat we lost a few 1st games in playoffs . I do agree at times this team looks awful but they have shown all year they can bounce back.
