Portland's frontline is Pryzbilla and Aldridge. They need Bynum and Gasol to matchup with them.

Odom can play Aldridge. Pryz is out there for defense, rebounds, and putbacks, so I don't mind having Odom out there to start.

Against Houston, you'd have Scola on Odom, and Pau on Yao. I'd cringe if I saw Pau on Yao.

Scola is better than Odom, imo. You know what you are getting day in and day out with Scola.

Scola > Odom

It always amazes me when a non-laker fan becomes a member of a lakers board.
Kobe's official reign of terror is about to get its jump off on.

One of my biggest gripes I've been noticing with Bynum since he came back has been his defense, but more specifically him picking up too many fouls on falling for pump fakes like everytime. He has to make the damn adjustment at some point, one would think and hope. I remember when he was straight up ballin' at his best, he wasn't doing the same. He would stay disciplined, stay grounded, and just in most cases, let his huge length alone alter or block shots. He needs to learn that he doesn't have to jump everytime, nor especially jump forward. A lot of guys are smaller than him and with that wingspan of his, he can get away with from time to time just simply holding his ground but keeping his arms up and extended, as well as just overall doing a better job of focusing and timing the opposition's shots to block. Wait till the ball is actually just released, then go for it, but again, maybe that's just a matter of getting his timing, rhythm, and conditioning back as well, I hope.

What amazes me more is when someone that knows nothing about sports joins any sports website.

Scola is wayyyyyyyy more consistent than Odom.

Odom: 17.8 PPG / 11.0 RPG, 2.4 APG @ 62.7% shooting in 36.6 minutes per game
Scola: 16.8 PPG, 7.5 RPG, 1.8 APG @ 53.8% shooting in 34.5 minutes per game

these are PO numbers... 5 games.. Scola's numbers about equal in the regular season. This is a tough call. Scola is more consistent while Odom is more talented.

Nicely put. You know what you are getting from Scola the morning of the game. With Odom, you don't know whether he is giving you 20 and 20 or 5 and 3.

Since Scola and Odom are so close in stats I really couldn't make up my mind despite seeing other people so sure one way or the other. Looking at stats it is not a slam dunk either way. The real differences in stats are that Scola is a better FT shooter and gets more double doubles, while Odom is better shot blocker and leads in assists. To me the deciding factor is who do i want in the game in the last five minutes, Scola or Odom. Odom has yet to prove to me that he can be relied on the last five minutes in the game based on past experience. I have seen him too many times get a stupid charging foul or throw the ball away which would wipe out the good he does when he gets a key rebound or basket. Plus how many trust is shot in pressure time. Overall experience tells me to say to odom in the last few minutes of a game "Don't shoot". Scola on the other hand does the things needed to win a game. He will get a key rebound, get a charge, or have a better chance to make a FT at the end of the game. I think he is a better defender also while Odom is more likely to get a stupid foul, Scola will get his fouls for good reasons like to prevent a layup. Tough call but have to go with the Argentine...... SCOLA WINS... Still hope lakers resign Odom at a reduced price though because he does add to the Lakers in many key ways.

This is a tough argument to make because both are similar in numbers. I would have to disagree that Scola isn't a reliability in the clutch as last night he made some key mistakes that allowed the pick n roll of the Blazers to run off his man and Brandon Roy. Also, Odom is multi-faceted as he can be the point forward allowing Kobe to play lower in the post. You don't see that with Luis and he is alot more cumbersome to deal with. At least with odom--when he get in the lane he's going to give you a more athletic move. Scola is more reliant on the outside shot. While both are nothing to really sneeze at; lamar is definitely the better player because he can mean so much.

I just hope Bynum can stay out of foul trouble. He needs to get a little more aggressive on the offensive side but play smart. He will come around.

We do need Bynum for Yao or Portland. He said he was ready but I thought he was not playing great in last three games or so. Do you think he is going to make it? I wish the brace could be removed so it will help this young man to show his real strength. That's just my wish. I know his Doctor knows better. :)
