I've never been high on Mbenga at all, and I was really open about my dislike for him on the other board. We only acquired him in the first place out of desperation to try and salvage a deteriorating season after Bynum's injury. No team wanted him for over half the season until we got desperate for a big man. Yea he's put in some good minutes, but it's usually in garbage time. I assume Phil only puts him in for limited meaningful minutes (even when playing well) because he figures that he will screw up sooner or later (the law of averages).
I have faith that with training camp and pre-season under his belt, and now that he's [hopefully] healthy, Mihm will be a serviceable back-up to Bynum, with Gasol also getting some minutes at C. If we do sign him, the only PT I see him getting is in garbage time, or if Drew, Pau, or Chris is injured (and even then it'll still be sparingly).

Tuesday updates revealed that Magloire was still waiting to hear back from the Heat after last week's workout. Wright continues to explore his options around the league. And I'm told MBenga, who worked out in Miami on Monday, has a minimum-level offer to return to the Lakers. But he hopes to get a somewhat sweeter offer from Miami and expects to hear from Riley and Co. as early as Wednesday.

he has size and has shown that he can bang and block shots
he has shown range and doesn't fumble the ball. When you dump the ball of to him, he at least finishes it, even in the few opportunities given to him.
and please don't say he can't guard the pick and rol...players from bynum, odom and kobe have had trouble guarding it for years now. If only Phil knew a lick about coaching defense that play wouldn't be a nightmare for us for years

Realistically, how much more would the Heat offer? I mean, wouldn't he want to take slightly less to play for a championship? The Heat might make the playoffs but they're far from being a title contender. With Ronny out of the picture, DJ is looking at more playing time.

Not really. We signed Josh Powell who seems to be an improvement, skill-wise, over Turiaf. Plus we have a [hopefully] healthy Mihm returning, plus you can't forget our starting Center, Bynum. And Gasol will probably also get minutes at Center. DJ barely got minutes with Bynum and Mihm out of the picture, I don't see his minutes increasing this season. its not his fault that phil jackson is refusing to make defensive substitutions
otherwise he would've used Newble and Mbenga more
