DJ Mbenga, who worked out in Miami on Monday, has a minimum-level offer to return to the Lakers, but is hoping for a bigger offer from the Heat.

RealGM Note: In 42 games last season, Mbenga had a per 40 FIC of 8.9 and 'deserved' $800,000.

Oh wait, Mbenga is an unrestricted FA isn't it? I was bemused at the 'summoned to AmericanAirlines Arena' phrase...

I'd really like another back up center. I personally don't feel too confident yet with Mihm. But that's probably because of what I saw in the Finals.

i think this will be chris's year to slide into that backup center spot and kickstart the second half of his career. 10-15minutes sounds about right.

i liked DJ, he had real potential. . but he was raw as anything. .

Gary Payton can be added to that list as well, and I think there is more.

Shaq? If we still can't get Zo, we might as well keep Mbenga.

update on the DJ Mbenga situation

Source

Tuesday updates revealed that Magloire was still waiting to hear back from the Heat after last week's workout. Wright continues to explore his options around the league. And I'm told MBenga, who worked out in Miami on Monday, has a minimum-level offer to return to the Lakers. But he hopes to get a somewhat sweeter offer from Miami and expects to hear from Riley and Co. as early as Wednesday.

It will be interesting to see if they sign him.

I think MBenga is a gem off the bench personally.

Minimum? Sure, but not a penny more.
