well potential wise probably hes more athletic and has a little more offensive ability and potential but in terms of this year hes doing some of the exact same things rick did

hit open jumpers. play tough defense, and make good post entry passes

Rick was much more mentally tough and he wasn't afraid to get dirty

But in regards to their roles and how they can contribute I think they're similar.

I love Ariza but dont consider him a outside shooter just because hes been hitting them the first two games of the series, hes still a slasher till we see him shoot like this consistently and for a longer period than 2 games. Another thing Ariza isnt a great man to man defender, hes more of a team defender. Rick was a more of a man to man defender than a guy who grabs steals and helps out like Ariza does. Lastly Ariza is long and athletic and Fox was well... not.

Rick was a natural shooter and Ariza is a natural slasher. I don't see any similarities other than maybe some defensive similarities.

Not really...

Ariza is a slasher and plays the passing lanes well. Rick was a good man to man defender and was a better shooter.

hes 22 guys rick was a seasoned vet at this point ariza is the identical twin of rick in terms of his role on the team

he does what rick did to perfection

Not really...

Ariza is a slasher and plays the passing lanes well. Rick was a good man to man defender and was a better shooter.

ariza picks his spots slashing while he jumpshoots more regularly now and hes young so his defense will improve

their ability to post entry flawlessly is identical

This is like saying Fisher is Ron Harper v2, just because Fish plays the same role as Harper when the Lakers were contending in 99-00 and 00-01 it doesnt mean they play the same, they are the complete opposites basketball wise.
