The Dallas Mavericks have signed forward Devean George to a two-year contract worth roughly $4 million, according to ESPN.com's Marc Stein.

Agent Mark Bartelstein told ESPN on Wednesday that the deal includes a player option for George to return to free agency after the 2008-09 season.

The agreement comes as a surprise to some after George's controversial refusal in February to be included in the Mavericks' trade with the New Jersey Nets for Jason Kidd.

I knew Mark Cuban was a nice guy, but I didn't realize he was that nice. If somebody cost me as much money as Gump did I wouldn't be throwing more at him.

Seriously: I will not be surprised if Dallas misses the playoffs entirely.

He can be a genius and an idiot at the same time...

Sprewell should be taking notes...
"Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people."
