Suns general manager Steve Kerr doesn't believe that he needs to blow up the team and start from scratch in order to contend again.

"I don't think you blow up a team that's pretty good, that has a chance to be very good," Kerr said. "You try to improve that team. We have to make every effort to do so under some difficult circumstances."

Last offseason Kerr brought in coach Terry Porter for more of a defensive philosophy, but he didn't pan out and they regress further defensively.

"There was kind of hangover effect this year," Kerr said. "We've been a championship contender the last three or four years. We never got to the Finals but always felt like we had a chance. This year, we were hanging on to that hope. The reality was we were a good team but we weren't a title contender. I think that was hard for all us to accept - our players, coaches, those of us in management, our fans especially."

Not completely blown up but I would do a major rehaul of the team. Bye SHaq and Nash if they are smart.

If they want to keep playing that way, go ahead, another team we dont have to worry about in the playoffs.

No, but Steve Kerr deserves to be stabbed...

Nash and Stoudemire will leave for nothing and Shaq is aging quickly while eating up (pun intended) a giant part of your cap in a year when you need to start making room for a massive free agent market in order to stay out of the cellar for a decade or so.

But yeah sure, you're right Steve, you'll be just fine.

The playoffs and ring runs are boring, the lottery - now that's fun stuff!!

i thought this is what they have been trying to do for the last couple of years? but have failed to do so with all the moves they have made in the past two years from the shaq trade, to signing grant hill, and diaw+bell for jrich which was the worst of all three moves.
