I got this from somebody who says he knows someone that works at the NBA TV offices. This is assuming Portland hangs on and wins tonight. All times Eastern.

WC:

(1)Los Angeles vs. (8) Utah - Game 1 3:30 PM Sunday ABC
(4)Portland vs. (5) Houston - Game 1 10:30 PM Sunday TNT
(3)San Antonio vs. (6) Dallas - Game 1 8:00 PM Sunday TNT
(2)Denver vs. (7) New Orleans - Game 1 9:30 PM Saturday ESPN

EC:

(1) Cleveland vs. (8) Detroit - Game 1 1:00 PM Sunday ABC
(4) Atlanta vs. (5) Miami Game 1 7:00 PM Saturday ESPN
(3) Orlando vs. (6) Philadelphia Game 1 3:30 PM Saturday ESPN
(2) Boston vs. (7) Chicago Game 1 1:00 PM Saturday ABC

I don't get how Portland would be the fourth seed if they win. Don't they hold the tie breaker over the Spurs? They were 1-3 versus the Blazers this season

I already explained this in another thread - because it would be a 3-way tie record-wise between Denver, San Antonio & Portland, the division winners get the higher seeds no matter what, regardless of head-to-head battles. That means that if Portland hangs on and wins tonight (very, very likely) they will host the Houston Rockets (5th seed) as the 4th seed.

Spurs clinch division title. Division winners are always top 3.

Hope I'm right about this, haven't checked the standings.

^ I loaded the thread with last reply as westcoast's. So I'm right. :P

Something else to add:

Even if Portland beats Denver tonight, their standings will be tied. By virtue of conference record, Denver is in the lead with 35-16(currently), Portland is 31-20. So the title went to Denver. As said, Denver already clinched the division title 1 or 2 games back anyway.

Division winners are NOT always Top 3. If the tiebreaker was between JUST the Blazers & Spurs, then Blazers would be the 3rd seed regardless of whether or not the Spurs won their division. But because it's a 3-way tie, it throws all that out the window.

I see, I figured I am missing something from there as the top 4 seeds were a mix at times...only thing I can guarantee is division leaders will always be top 4?

To be the best, you got to beat the best and overcome the obstacles in front of you.

As a Laker fan, I want to face the team that will challenge us and show us how good our team really is. It will make a championship that much more sweeter.

True, but still hate to face the blazers. Not that I fear them, but there's that certain uncertainty looming.
