Anyone who thinks we cant hang with the lakers are retards.

Horrendous start by the Jazz, and if Miles or Brew had stepped up this game would be down to the wire right now.

See you on Tuesday laker clowns

everytime we are close, the lakers sows who owns the game...

I'm sorry to say it, but Boozer will most likely have a bad game 2. He hasn't been consistent in two years, and he won't step up. But watch Brewer/AK/Korver have a big game, but we'll still look the same.

Don't tell LALaw, but I have a feeling in the pit of my stomach that I will be sporting the Laker purple and riding the band wagon to the O'Brien with you guys.

koBMVP

It breaks my little Celtic Green heart to say that but I am a realist. Without KG, we don't have what it takes to get to The Finals.

It definitely will be, UT OUTLAW. I hope the Jazz respond with a care free, fun loving attitude. Because they will play so much better if they look at it like that and just have fun.

Mark my words: The Jazz will make a Finals appearance again here in the next 2-3 seasons. And I'm not ruling out this year yet. Jazz have the potential to shut the Lakers down. It's a matter of who will show up to the game, Jeckyl or Hyde? Special Olympics Jazz or Kobe Killers? ;p

You know, with all the hype surrounding a kobe/le bron showdown, something is bound to happen. Something like, oh I don't know, Lakers being eliminated in the 1st round. lol ;p

I've accepted the fact that we ended up with the worst match-up for the 1st round. But it'll be exciting to watch. Whether the Jazz exit 1st round or not I'm watching EVERY game east and west. YOU GOTTA LOVE IT, BABY!

When is Sunday going to get here already?!?!

the Jazz are hesitating, they are passing up open shots, they look like they don't know what to do defensively. All around the Jazz look like a deer caught in headlights.

Why don't they just freakin play?!?!

CowBoy - I still believe too, dammit!!

If the Jazz can pull together a full 48 minutes, they are a serious contender. They just slack off half the time. That first half today is where we lost. The 2nd half looked pretty good. If they could put two halves/four quarters together, they'd win!

And I think they can do it!!!

Game 1 Pre-Game Quotes

Brevin Knight will have a triple double today

10 dribbles off his shoe
11 blown fast breaks
and 12 wide open bricks.

I really hate them. Could they possibly gush about their love for the Lakers anymore? It's nothing but "Lakers are the greatest. They are starting their drive to a championship, and revenge from last year." and "Kobe, Kobe, Kobe". It's so absolutely disgusting. Why can't we have an unbiased national media outlet? They might as well change the name of their network to Kobe's Lakers.

If we were as good as the Lakers they would probably be gushing over us too.

exactly. get over it jack. the lakers are that freakin' good.

Game 1 In-Game/Post-Game Quotes

Once again, the classy LA fans show themselves. You're up 10 points, in a series the NBA has all but guaranteed you'll win and you still have to chant UTAH SUCKS. Simply amazing.

The NBA hasn't guaranteed it. Utah has by giving up already.

Man, Knight sucks. I had such high hopes for him this year.

Did Boozer just yell "And 1" when the Laker was going to the hole???

Wiliams really don't have a go-to-guy to pass the basketball in this series... our team is so flawed it hurts in the eye...

Game's already over.

The more things change the more they stay the same.

Boozer being picked on. Brewer missing outside jumpers. Collins making us play 4 on 5. Horrible defensive decisions. CJ playing like a scared little girl. Jazz's overall intensity lacking. Millsap and Harpring battling inside. Deron leading us.

Keep Millsap, Deron, and Kosta. the rest of this team is expendable.

this only proves my theory right. Anyone notice what was happening when our offense was clicking early on? Only when we decided to miss wide open jumpers and give the ball away did the Lakers really start building a lead.

The issue isn't our horrible defense, but our gross offense. We just don't have the offensive fire power outside to keep the Laker d honest. Nor do we have a big man inside to matchup against Gasol and Bynum.

Ha, and some of you were excited for this game.

PS Stop [expletive]ing about the refs. The jazz are being outplayed. No hustle, no defense, don't blame a 22 point deficit on the refs, blame it on your teams effort.

Yes, the refs suck, but blaming the refs is just plain stupid. This team has so many holes that they need to worry about their own sorry as$es.

The refs have blown a few calls but seriously the Jazz are losing because the Lakers are better and because our guys can't make shots, defend or make FTs. I don't know what game you are watching but the Lakers are toying with the Jazz. The only guy who played decently was DW and he tailed off after going to the bench. The Jazz make Brown, Walton, Ariza, and company look like All-stars while our former All-stars clank shots, not cover the 3 pt line or lane and miss FTs. The Jazz tried but it is obvious that the Lakers are a lot better than the Jazz. The only chance the Jazz had is to shoot lights out. They got a lot of good looks but couldn't make them and they left 3pt shooters wide open and that's why the Jazz are losing and not the refs.

and what happened to all that Deron talk of taking over the game right from the start? Fish always seems to bother him

exactly. we got 2 fouls on fisher in 2:30 and then once brown came in, williams stopped attacking instead of trying to get a couple quick ones on him as well, or quick ones on their bigs (which came later) or getting a layup, or quick out. i guess he just figured that ak and brewer were out there for any quick outs and they can't shoot. love the glaring flaws on this team.

There are definitely positives out of this one. We just need the following things to happen/not happen:

1. NOBODY aside from Deron is to dribble the ball down the court.
2. Do NOT take stupid shots over an extended Odom/Bynum/Gasol when the odds are against you.
3. Do NOT miss layups.
4. Do NOT get frazzled and make silly turnovers when the crowd is loud.
5. D-Will needs to play the whole game and needs to continue to drive to the basket and draw fouls.
6. Boozer stepped it up today and he needs to keep that up.
7. We need to go to the paint and draw fouls. Brewer and Miles among others are not hitting their shots.

The Lakers are better than we are, but that does not mean we cannot beat them.

I'm okay with this game.

Their role players hit a lot of tough shots, ours couldnt hit anything at all from the outside. Deron couldnt hit anything from the outside. We had no Memo. We outplayed them in the 2nd half.

The Jazz played hard, Boozer is starting to look a little better.

It looks like we are atleast willing to fight them. We were a disasterous Brevin Knight stint away from legitimately being in this game.

This game reminded me very much of the first game of the last Jazz-Lakers series which is a good thing because we were actually a good team then.

At least we try...
We didn't quit, but still I never have the sensation we could come back....
The best thing is we didn't play our best game.

All the things we were certain of earlier in the season has kinda of diminished as the season is coming to the end.

We really arent a deep team.
We really havent made the defensive commitment.
We dont have Derons backup...and he isnt on this roster.
AK is never coming back.
Korver might be on the decline already...I hope thats not true.

Stop being so damn proud. Make changes. Get very creative this summer, get aggressive, get hard working players in here. We dont need to be a 1 and 4 team. We dont need to be a half court team. We need to become the team that is best suited to win a championship. Send everyone in the Jazz FO to San Antonio and have them learn something.

I can live with Sloan being the coach, but he needs to become more open-minded and be ready for change. Otherwise we need to find a new coach.

There go your tacos, (bleep)!!!

The Jazz can battle the Lakers. They just need to do it for the full game. I was VERY happy with the second half. A few mental lapses aside in that half (AK's ridiculous dish, a couple missed layups, some poor passes from D-Will) and the score would have been far closer. Overall though I look forward to game 2.

Great game from Carlos too, it's about time. If he scores like that, I can live with his defense.

Unbelievable that we only lost by 13 and we shot under 40%!!! I don't want to get too optimistic, because I still think we are gonna have a hard time winning one game, but we could definitely make this series more interesting than I thought. If we could, for once, shoot well, I think we could win, even in LA. Their length gives us such fits though...

I don't get the team at all. We got worked on the court so you have to feel for the Jazz fans in attendance. Then to make things worse, the Jazz fans have a chance to get free taco's, and their own team take that away from them.

Game 2 Pre-Game Quotes

Same story. The Laker bench builds a 20 point lead in the first half while Kobe doesn't even break a sweat. They let up, we get within 10, Kobe scores 20 straigh5t because we can't get a defensive stop to save our lives, and we end up losing by more than we did in game 1.

Biggest issue of Game 1: Lakers hit open shots, the Jazz did not.

This often times doesn't determine the outcome of a game. In the Jazz case, it is critical they make their open jumpers because of what happens on the defensive end when they do not. I haven't broken it down, but I would bet that nearly every time the Jazz missed a wide-open jumper, it turned into an easy bucket on the other end for the Lakers.

I see things going one of two ways....

Scenario 1: The Jazz come out strong and are hitting their jumpers (Miles, Korver, Brewer). The Laker players who were hot in game one (Ariza, Brown) struggle and don't hit as many open looks. Kobe is more aggressive in the early-goings and goes off in the first-half. Deron is more aggressive as well. Comes down to a close finish.

Scenario 2: The Lakers continue to get and make open jumpers, especially from the corners and deep wings. The Lakers get to the FT line more often than the Jazz, and Kobe goes off for 30+. The Lakers win by 15.

Here's to scenario #1 and a big play by Deron down the stretch.

Utah will fall behind by double digits early and never get closer than 8.

This is what I want to see, but won't:

1. Price replaces Knight (note to Jerry: when Phil found Farmar to be ineffective this year, he tried Brown--a guy who had no experience in his system and never saw in his life until a month a go. Even now, Phil plays whoever is going to help.)

2. Call Time Outs. (note to Jazz front office: offer Jerry a tractor of his choice for any and every timeout he calls.)

3. We don't HAVE to play our starters until the 4:00 minute mark of the 1st and 3rd. If anyone other than Deron is struggling, try something else.

4. Our substitution patterns don't HAVE to be LINEUPS. And we don't have to wait to change them until somebody gets in foul trouble. Try players. Be fluid. Sub guys in and out. It's the playoffs. You never know what will work.

I could list more, but these are my pet peeves. The bottom line is the Jazz will play better D, they will execute their offense better, and we'll be going home 1-1. We're going to make this a series BEFORE we go home.

The notes section of the Trib says that Sloan is considering going with Ronnie Price behind Deron.

Well its about time, he should have been playing all season. Dont know what good it will do now that his confidence has been shot but whatever. Doesn't hurt to try when Knight is blowing the game for us.

I am really pulling for the Jazz to figure everything out and give a solid 48 minute effort tonight. We need to at least make things competitive and make the Lakers work for the win. Winning would be nice...
