If Houston beat Dallas we will get the Mavs IF we beat Utah tonight!


Although I believe we'll beat Utah, they will make us work much harder than Dallas will.

We have the potential to sweep Dallas. Utah will bring that tough nosed physical defense every game and can make the Lakers use more energy than they wanted in the 1st round.

And Utah would gain some momentum by beating the Lakers heading into the tournament.

I'm not 100% sure about this, but I think you are wrong on a couple of your points. I heard Utah has the tiebreaker over both Dallas and New Orleans, so if they win tonight vs the Lakers, and if either Dallas or NO loses, then Utah would move up, I'm pretty sure.

Best situation would be facing Dallas of course, but I think for that to happen, Utah needs to beat LA tonight and Dallas has to lose..

I could be wrong. But if this is the way it is, it's hard to say how Lakers should play tonight's game..It's the last game going into the playoffs, and you want be playing well..I think Lakers need to play their hardest and try to get the W, especailly since we could be going against Utah again in a few days.

But if it's Dallas, you're right, we very well could, and i think would, sweep them. Utah would take us to probably 6 games..Maybe 5 if the Lakers are really on.

I Actually don't mind playing Utah in the 1st round. It's better than running into them later when their momentum's been built up.

I said something about this exact thing a couple days ago. We need to beat Utah tonight. We already know how bad of a road team they are, but if they somehow beat us tonight and we face them in the playoffs, they will have confidence that they can win in our building.

I see the Lakers blowing out the Jazz tonight. It will be a good statement to the Jazz and the rest of the league that the Lakers are ready to take back whats theirs.

There's 4 possible ways things will play out.

Utah loses tonight, we get Utah, regardless of what happens on Wednesday.

Utah wins, there's 3 different scenarios there.

NO wins, we get Utah, regardless of Dallas wins or loses.

NO loses, DAL wins: we get NO.

NO loses, DAL loses: we get Dallas.

i hate john hollinger with a passion but he said something today that made sense. when you play utah they leave a mark because they are so physical

whether thats what we need or not is debateable but regardless of if you beat them they grab, push, and bump you to death and that plays a factor for later series
