WE face them in the second round if they win..

WE have never won in Portland since '05, and I assume if we go in a 7 game series, we will lose all 3 at Portland, and if they beat us once in LA, we would be done..

Should we pray that Tim Duncan can once again carry the Spurs to the second round?

I'd plow Vanessa Bryant.

Depends on what you mean by challenge? Can they make it a long 6 or 7 game series? Maybe. But no team in the West has a chance at beating us in a 7 game series.

I thought about this. I'm not sure. I don't think Portland can play all of those games against us and have the success they usually do.

every team we play is a challenge

i am so sick of this ridiculous blind arrogance people are having. we are not invincible and there is 17 pieces of evidence to prove it. we have flaws and like every team in the NBA and like every single team we can lose any given night any given series

we're 5-0 in our last 5 playoff series against them. Kobe and Fish have been on all 5 of those teams and they've had success in that hostile environment

well the issue i see is

they are young, long, and athletic with depth and shooters galore. they played only 82 games last season with only 1 olympic participant who comes off the bench

we are young, tall, powerful with big men galore no shooters except kobe, sasha, and fisher and all of them are off right now we played 103 games last year with 2 olympic participants both of them 2 out of 3 key players

not our best matchup to say the least

for my reasons above i would prefer to not see them they are the worst matchup possible in the entire western conference playoffs by far being followed by having to play utah in round 1

and we might experience both

First time in the playoffs for most of those guys, though. Experience is a huge thing in the postseason.

Even coaching experience, as we'll be playing the Blazers back, to back, to back, to back (and so on and so forth, hopefully it would just stop at that point, but I doubt it).

I just feel like nobody out west can beat us. It's a different story out east, though.

i'm glad we lost to them, again, tonight. this way, hopefully, when we face them in the playoffs we'll be hungry. i know kobe's pumped, he wants them. i want them too. no way we lose to them in the playoffs, just no way.

ANY team we play in the playoffs will be a toughy.
Never underestimate what these teams can do once we hit the playoffs. It's a whole 'nother level.
BUT I think that if we play well, we can definitely do it. We have the talent to.
Our team HAS been hungry for the championship esp since we made it to the Finals last year.
But Kobe and Derek and basically the only "real" vets on the team - that have experience in the post-season making it all the way and becoming Champs. we NEED it.

I think the Lakers should regret looking down to their competition and not giving up a hundred percent that might have secured home court advantage throughout the playoffs.

The Cavs just lost one at home, to us. But they didn't have Joe Smith and Delonte West back then and Sasha Pavlovic just played 12 minuted due to the flu.

It would be different in the Finals, the Cavs would be better.

yes! enough of such arrogance. we can be beaten if we play carelessly.

Like the Mavs back to years ago. Amazing happens in the NBA.

I could only hope and pray our team plays upto its optimum potential every night, against anyone.

I'm with you last stand... i don't get how magically this Laker team is all of a sudden going to be a different team come playoff time. i thought the game tonight was horribly officiated but the Lakers have to know that, coming into Portland and play like they expect to get called. GUT IT OUT! This blazer team wins against us for a reason and the fact that they've lost when we've played them at home alone just doesn't cut it. We had a chance to win HCA with a little bit of luck that the Cavs would lose a game or 2. Phil said that we'd put pressure on them. Did that "playoff" Laker team show up tonight? No. Every team in the NBA is vulnerable and tonight against Portland I'd be lying if I told you that I was happy because Shannon Brown seems like he's coming into his own, Sasha's hitting his shots and it seems like our bench is making a comeback. The Blazers had an answer for us EVERY time we made changes... shoot, watching the game here on KCAL it seemed as if the Lakers were trying to at least win at half time because of a statistical measure. :nah:

Kobe said on tonight's post game interview that he'd "f'ing love to challenge them" in the playoffs and I seriously don't think that'd be so good knowing that our vet. and team captain shot a wild 3 with enough time to get an easy deuce and commit to defense at the other end. No other team on the west, not even Utah, scares me. This Portland team has had this nucleus for awhile, only adding better players ..and the fact that they're young, talented and deep gives them a chance to be a playoff team for years to come. They definitely have something to prove and the Lakers cannot play like they want to win a championship "this season"...we have to play like we want a 3peat.

we are NOT a different team in the playoffs if the Lakers don't play like a "playoff" team in the regular season.
