MJ averaged fewer than two fouls per game only in his last two seasons, and never as few as James' current 1.72. Among some of the great perimeter players in history, at a time when substantially more perimeter contact was allowed, Larry Bird averaged about 2.5 fouls, Magic Johnson 2.26 and Jerry West and Oscar Robertson well above two per game.

...

James is averaging 1.72 fouls per game in an average of 37.9 minutes per game. James hasn't even been in foul trouble one game this season. He never has had more than four fouls called on him in a game, and since March 1 is being called for fewer than 1.3 fouls per game.

In 12 of the 20 games since then, James has been called for one or zero fouls in a game. James had a stretch of five straight games to conclude March averaging 36.8 minutes per game without being called for one foul. Not one in five games! In the last nine games, James has been called for three personal fouls. It's really amazing given the involvement James has in the action of the game.

"It's impossible," said one team executive.

....

Jordan averaged fewer than two fouls per game only in his last two seasons when he was not as active as a defender, and never as few as James' current 1.72. Among some of the great perimeter players in history, at a time when substantially more perimeter contact was allowed, Larry Bird averaged about 2.5 fouls, Magic Johnson 2.26 and Jerry West and Oscar Robertson well above two per game.

In the game now, Kobe Bryant has a career average of about 2.7 fouls per game and is about 2.3 this season. Dwyane Wade has a career average of 2.67 and is about 2.2 this season.

...

It simply defies explanation how James, who is an aggressive player, can be whistled for so few fouls per game, and especially at a time his team is saying he never has played better defense and when the rules are more stringent regarding perimeter contact. Can he truly be that perfect?

i would say out of the NBAs elite 100% of the guards get star treatment on the defensive end which is why their man defense isn't as impressive as a shane battiers or ron artests but on offense that is a different story

lebron and kobe have to work their butts off to get to the line because the NBA always is trying to hide from the stigma of preferrential treatment

though wade gets a crap load of calls and i've never understood it. maybe hes so demonstrative or whatever and kobe and lebron are less so but even kobes got some acting but lebron runs and acts like he wasn't touched so i see why he wouldn't get as many calls as he should.

but with wade its ridiculous i mean even the players noticed it which is sad because you rarely hear people complain about kobe or lebron getting offensive calls but wade is like a constant complaint

Amen. Wade is the worst by far and it's not even close. I was disgusted as I watched the second half of the 4th quarter as well as overtime of the Heat Hornets game on League Pass.

So you can't stand the dude because of something he can't control himself? Nice.

"LeBron has gone through a stretch of 5 games without committing a single foul." is what I heard from the guys on PTI.

Regardless if he gets star treatment or not, it's pretty damn hard not to get a foul in 5 straight games. He has to be doing something that is causing him not to foul as much.

Seriously, it's disgusting to see how many calls he gets in his favor. So many BS calls and FT's come his way every single game <_<

As well as Stuckey and Afflalo in that game they had against Detroit only a few weeks ago. Horrible officiating at the end of that game.

LeBron gets star treatment

Mo Williams = Pau Gasol

Pau Gasol = Zydrunas

Gooden> Odom

LeBron gets his assists by accident

LeBron's teammates > Kobe's

Anything else new?
Gooden>> Lamar Odom. Mo Williams>> Ray Allen>> Gasol. Nene= Gasol.

Wade is worse, gets away with much worse.

A Star Player getting away with a lot is not new though.

I've seen you guys type conspiracy theories 1,000 times.

I'm sure David Stern is plotting to take down the most popular team in the league, the biggest market in the league, and the player with the number one selling jersey.

NOT!
