The San Antonio Spurs’ playoff hopes took a severe hit on Monday when the team announced star guard Manu Ginobili will miss the remainder of the season, including the playoffs, because of a stress fracture in his right leg.

Ginobili experienced stiffness in his right leg during Sunday’s loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers. An MRI and CT scan taken on Monday revealed the stress fracture.

With the Western Conf as tough as it is, they might not even make it out of the 1st rd without him.

I wish Manu wasn't hurt but that's one legitimate contender down already, sucks for the Spurs. Only team that are contenders in my eyes now are Boston, Cleveland, Orlando, & of course LA Lakers.

It'll be interesting to see if the Spurs drop to #4.

It could work for us. Guaranteeing a match-up with them in round 2, is probably better at this point, than not getting them in the WCF.

Which means that we should have little trouble coming out of West while the Celtics, Magic and Cavs beat the crap out of eachother along the way to the Finals. Awesome.

Wow, that's a huge hit the Spurs team. Hopefully he gets back to 100% because Manu is such a great player to watch.

Barea and Hollins - you're not serious right?

Sure Barea can hit the occasional 3 and he's fast, but I don't think watching out for them is necessary. The Lakers just have to play their game no matter who's injured on another team and everything will be fine.

This kills the Spurs though. Right now they're looking at the Blazers in the 1st round - not easy pickins.

Sucks for the Spurs. I think they might be able to get to the second round though even without Ginobili.

The Good news: Lakers will be the WC Champions without question.

The Bad news: No epic showdown in the finals this year.
"If you could stop all the players that get publicized and all the players that the NBA likes and all the players, you know, the players that win the MVP's, you know, for their offense. And some of them, you know, play pretty good defense too. But some of them, you know, they like "this guy he can shoot, he can score, he can dunk." and I want to be the one to stop all those guys, you know, and just kinda spoil the whole party." - Ron Artest
