I have a feeling we could get Marc back. After the way the Grizzles treated Pau, Marc really won't want to play for them.

I'll take the losses on that one.
Marc is a great player, and he has a ton of potential, be we wouldn't have seen this "magical playoff run" without Pau... We can't regret this. Marc is unproven in the NBA as of now. If he blows up and is twice the player that Pau is, then we can get pissed off.
Marc has had weight problems in the past, and has been touted as a finesse center in a strength center's body.

Marc's value is nothing compared to Gasol's. Kobe was probably just saying it would have been better if we could have traded a different player.

Of course he is happy with Pau, he would like to have both, but we all have dreams. Kwame and Luke for Pau...

Marc would have been nice to keep and I would have preferred trading away Walton in his place...
Memphis might actually be decent with a core of Mayo, Conley, Gay and Gasol in the future. I seriously doubt they'd be able to keep them together though.

I'm sure Mitch may look at Marc in a future trade...he's a beast literally inside, and provides the presence. Kobe unofficially scouts other teams, he knows what he's talking about.
IMO, what we need now is him at the 5 backup and our frontline plus backups will be solid and done.
I mean in my head, we are always missing a good 5 or 4 backup inside to bolster our defense.

I think he's just simply paying the guy a compliment by saying he'd love to play with him if he had the chance and up until the Gasol trade, he did.
