"In hindsight, we probably didn't have to give him up to get Pau," Bryant said. "We should have kept Marc, too."

How's that for the ultimate endorsement? Bryant would like to have Marc Gasol back.

I still can't believe we traded Marc.

I have a feeling we could get Marc back. After the way the Grizzles treated Pau, Marc really won't want to play for them.

Woa woa woa woa woa.
The Lakers got Pau [expletive]ing Gasol in that deal.
I'll take the losses on that one.
Marc is a great player, and he has a ton of potential, be we wouldn't have seen this "magical playoff run" without Pau... We can't regret this. Marc is unproven in the NBA as of now. If he blows up and is twice the player that Pau is, then we can get pissed off.

Marc has had weight problems in the past, and has been touted as a finesse center in a strength center's body.

Marc's value is nothing compared to Gasol's. Kobe was probably just saying it would have been better if we could have traded a different player.

i think he probably meant that we should've given up someone else instead of Marc to get Pau...like Luke Walton or Vlad or whoever.

He's not regretting the Pau trade...in hindsight he wishes they just didn't give up Marc but someone else instead

I'm not saying he regrets the trade, i'm saying that he/them/we should be happy with what we got for who we gave up, and leave it at that.

That's exactly what he is thinking.
Of course he is happy with Pau, he would like to have both, but we all have dreams. Kwame and Luke for Pau...

Marc would have been nice to keep and I would have preferred trading away Walton in his place...

Memphis might actually be decent with a core of Mayo, Conley, Gay and Gasol in the future. I seriously doubt they'd be able to keep them together though.

Luke instead of Marc Gasol??

That would have brought the trade close to even.

Really though? Before Marc got the ACB player of the year?

IDK, i'm still content with giving up Marc... even if they didn't have to. If i'm the Lakers, and the Grizz accept the trade for a player that's never played in the league, I'm not going to be like "weeel, we'll give you a proven mediocre one-time starter instead."

If we didn't give up Marc, the trade would look even more lopsided than it already is. Although we'd have one Gasol starting and one coming off the bench.

I'm sure Mitch may look at Marc in a future trade...he's a beast literally inside, and provides the presence. Kobe unofficially scouts other teams, he knows what he's talking about.

IMO, what we need now is him at the 5 backup and our frontline plus backups will be solid and done.

I mean in my head, we are always missing a good 5 or 4 backup inside to bolster our defense.

I think he's just simply paying the guy a compliment by saying he'd love to play with him if he had the chance and up until the Gasol trade, he did. I don't think it needs to be analyzed any further than that. But I have to admit the responses here are much better than the internet psychology I'm reading on another board.

Marc will have time to start in Memphis, I don't think Darko is going to be a problem. And then if his game gets better, who knows?....

Kobe

"ship his arse out, we are talkin bout Jason Kidd, you know" refering to Bynum
"I think he can average 18-20 points" refering to Radbrick
"He has unlimited potential" refering to Sasha
"He is one of the most intelligent players in the league" refering to Luke.
"He is a beast and like a brother to me" refering to Kwame
"He definitely belongs in this league, he has a mountain of potential" refering to Smush Parker
"He was always great but recently he has realized it as well" refering to Lamar Odom

and you can find quotes about Cook, Evans, Tierre Brown or any other Laker...sometimes Kobe has said things that makes you cringe...on the other hand what do you expect him to say in public? "this player SUCKS?" lol

I don't see why this one would be one of them. ;)
